As soon as the governor got involved, it was clear that this whole Kiffin/Wade debacle was overtly political.
And most business-as-usual politicians in Louisiana don't realize their go-to methods of corruption don't typically play too well outside of the state.

Some of you LSU fans need to take a step back- the idea of recruiting NFL players is something all fans of the sport should be against. This is a can of worms that will destroy the sport even worse than NIL already has if we allow it to be opened.

Purely speculation, but more rules seem to only cause more lawsuits these days.
I don't think many would be surprised if conversations and advice against pursuing these players weren't occurring long before 2 weeks ago. Further, I think the "if there is no rule, there is no foul" concept against the wishes of the majority of the conference possibly led to this focus on CLK.
It is like when Saban wanted to hire Freeze. The SEC couldn't stop it, but strongly advised against it and it didn't happen.
Many of the SEC old guard didn't want Wade back in the conference and none wanted this current pro player mess, so, yes, I would speculate that it is the SEC attempting to punish a member that has bitten the hand that feeds them.
Will it work, who knows. But, it has certainly created some headlines.

I’m 100% in agreement. But I don’t believe the two guys we have are actual nfl players. Nor do I think the guys at the other schools are nfl guys.
But if lsu guys are nfl then the others should be categorized the same.
Neither ever played in an nfl game. I think 1 never even practiced.

That’s being disingenuous. There are players who went to nfl mini camps currently on sec teams. The players in question already reported fielding multiple calls from multiple schools within the conference. Would they say that under oath? I don’t know. Maybe we should see.
