We will go anywhere from 6-7 to 9-4, imo..

No, I was showing that it doesn't take a great defense to win a BCSNC.. Even though our defense will be improved this season.

Come on. Cam caused an outlier situation. No team with a D like you had last year is ever going to hoist the trophy. Deep down you know this..

Oregon disagrees.

Au is tough to gauge. They could go anywhere from 5-7 to 10-2. Defense, QB, and O-Line have to be better than expected to get to the 10-2 number. Offensive line has to be as bad as the SECRant thinks it will be to be closer to the 5-7 number. Realistically I think we will be 7-5. With better than expected o-line, that becomes 8-4.

Mississippi State and Kentucky had better defenses than you

we had a better defense than a lot of people, including your team. What's your point here?

Mississippi State had the 8th best defense in the SEC, 52nd in the nation.

Arkansas had the 5th best defense in the SEC, 33rd in the nation.

You are wrong, but thanks for playing...

They looked pretty good at times. I remember the second half of this one game....

all the starters in our secondary are gone, Thorpe is moved to safety which is his natural position...our corners are a lot more talented than what we've had the last couple years..mincy,bell,davis,rose. I like the way our defense is looking just need to grow up fast.

I don't get where this talk of MS being good is coming from.. They were 1-4 against the West last year, and benefited by UF and UGA having horrible years by their standards. Don't forget to throw in a beat down of a terrible Michigan team.

If those 2 teams are having average years, chances are MSU loses both games and ends up with a 2-6 conference record and a 7-6 overall record. That's assuming they even get to a bowl game. Isn't that about what MS normally wins a year, 6 games?

So really what has changed in Starkville?.... nothing

we will never have a good year where people don't say it was because some team or teams weren't down. We were better than the majority of the teams in the conference, have impoved both years under mullen, only lost a few starters, and finally have depth. It's not hard to figure out. Plus Auburn won't have a lot this year. So when we have a good season this year, it will be because Auburn was down.

If you go back two years Mullen's record against the west is an outstanding 2-8.

Thank God for Mississippi...

And if Auburn wins then what does that say about State?

Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't see a scenario for MS to have any long term sustained success.. I think it's more a case of peaks and valleys. They either need the east to struggle across the board or they have to hope some combination of Al, AU, LSU or Arky have an off year.

More than likely they will have a good year followed by a few bad ones and then another good year.

Arknsas was 43rd in scoring D while State was 27th, State had the 19th rushing D in the country while Arky had the 68th. The only category you had anything better was pass D which was pretty much worthless in SEC play 2010-11.

I'm sure AU hanging 65 on them had a lot to do with that. They would probably be ranked much higher if you took away 40 of those points.

The OL will have 3 guys on it with game experience from last year. That group will not be as bad as everyone thinks. But, yea, we could go 10-3 after winning the BCS NC? That would not be an awful year especially since we don't/won't have everyone and their mother saying we are going to repeat. Any of that sound familiar?

If y'all have all these great athletes and superior coaching, why was it so close last yr.Without Cam Newton Auburn goes 5-7 last yr.He was the difference in that game.Your big time athletes got handled pretty well by our 2 and 3 star kids.UGA and FLA recruits well and we saw what kind of year they had.Reality will be a bitch for some the Aub fans this fall.
