Drew Allar against ND in National Semifinal completes ZERO passes to WR's.This marked the only game in the past 20 seasons that Penn State failed to complete a pass to a wide receiver (per SI article LINK )
It's Allar-nothing

There are so many sports writers and commentators in New York, Pennsylvania, and Massachusetts. And no college football players. Drew Allar is it.

Lagway is top 5 to me, and I’d take him in a heartbeat over Nico (very overrated IMO). Allar not top 5.
Leavitt should be top 5 but Skattebo opened up a lot for him.

Give me a break. Were you even alive when MJ was playing? That dude ran for TDs from all over the place. And Green can’t throw for shite unless you just want balls heaved down field.

Lagway: 154 rtg / 59% comp %
Sellers: 152 65%
Nico: 145 63%
Nuss: 142 64%
Reed: 142 61%
Green: 138 60%
Arnold: 124 62%
Given the lack of experience for Lagway and Sellers I’d be very high on those two for next year.
One thing I’d point out though is accuracy and processing the field are often issues that cannot be fixed.
It’s not as though UF was running a downfield passing attack, so the guys in the low 60s or below on accuracy might have critical limitations in their game that don’t scale, but we won’t know until coaches have tape to scheme with.
Just look at Milroe. He went from Heisman front runner against UGA to whatever it was we saw post LSU because coaches figured him out. Always beware the critical flaw for the dual threat guys.

LSU had a Heisman Trophy winner in 2023 and their “defense” sucked arse.
Fixed it for you. Offense was as elite as it gets. Defense was as bad as it gets.
Btw… defense will be significantly improved this year.

Lagway definitely was throwing the ball deep more often than you are giving him credit for. Almost 20% of his passes were thrown for over 20 air yards. His average depth for his passes was 11.72. He lead the country in passer rating (95.6) on deep balls according to PFF.
Lagway's weakness is definitely intermediate throws though. He really needs to improve on that next year. Hopefully a healthy Eugene Wilson in the slot helps with that.

To be clear, Lagway might be the best returning QB in the conference given his upside.
And im also not saying they weren’t taking deep shots.
I am saying it’s a red flag when coaches have to run the no intermediate game passing schemes because it almost invariably means they don’t trust their QB to process coverages and deliver the ball accurately and on time when an incompletion could mean a turnover.
Bama did the same thing to cover Milroe last year. It was either a run, a QB power or a downfield shot because he couldn’t handle the speed and complexity of the coverages underneath so he often ignored or missed those routes.
Now with Lagway he’s young and could develop that trust, but to me what I saw from UF last year was a training wheels offense that won’t scale against good to great defenses.
Lagway will have to grow or what he’s shown to date can be schemed away.

And I was winning the Powerball after the first two numbers then also.
I won exactly what he did............................nothing.

So Lincoln Riley doesn't have a Heisman contender playing for him this year?
