Why? It's not "good" news or "bad" news. It's just someone's opinion of LBs and how they rank in the SEC.

You should hold a seminar for your fellow hog fans.

1. Alabama: There are a lot of strengths on this Alabama team, but the linebackers should be very fun to watch this fall. Courtney Upshaw and Dont’a Hightower are back to full speed and are considered top players at their positions. With them back, the Tide should have a much more aggressive pass rush. Nico Johnson and C.J. Mosley improved even more this spring and will get time in the middle when Hightower is outside at the "Jack" position. Mosely blossomed as a freshman and could be a star in the making. Jarrell Harris seems to finally be coming around and Chris Jordan gives them another body in the front seven.

Our linebackers are fricking terrible talent wise outside of Johnson and Maggitt.

Our DBs should be up there though. We have 18 scholarship DBs, including all 4 returning starters, the top 2 JUCO DBs, and three 4* frosh DBs.

I'm not a fan of Edward Aschoff. He should be on a message board with a Gator next to his name, not on ESPN.

Jefferson did throw for 184 yards against that vaunted Arky D last year. Only game he threw for more all year was Ole Miss

I couldn't agree more. Like I posted earlier it's just someone's opinion; nothing more, nothing less. However, I would venture to say that that the research done on this article exceeds (probably by 100 fold or more) the research recruiting “experts” do on all the high school players they rank yet many take recruiting services evaluations as infallible.

Even as a LSU fan, I will be the first to admit that we do not belong in the top 5. I figured South Carolina's linebackers would have been rated higher than what they are.

I'm excited for this years LB corp. This may be our best front 7 in a long damn time

9. Auburn:

I don't expect a huge drop off from last year. Bynes was terrible in pass coverage and Stevens was moderate at best. This new group will be more athletic, and should help more in the passing game.

I thought he was pretty good. And I think he will be missed this year.

He was really disappointing. Especially early in the season when he came back from his timeout.

Well, our linebacker play was fairly weak last year, so a drop off would be terrible. I expect us to be about the same, which should rank us near the bottom of the SEC. However, we may have a young guy or two step up and surprise us.

I cannot believe that Hightower has not been moved to d-end or d-line. He does not possess the speed or lateral quickness to play LB at a high level in the SEC IMO. Now when he does catch up to a runner, he makes his presence felt, however Bama has four or five LBs on the roster more effective at the position than him.

I agree, but if his speed has returned this year than no problems. If not, he needs to find a new spot. Too many good LB's on this team that can get the job done.

ETA: CJ best LB in country.

Yep. To the Bama fans, I am not trying to bash anyone...it is just clear that you have better LBs on the team than Hightower.

The standard excuse is that he has not fully healed last year. That may be true, but why play him if there were others better than him? Obviously, Saban knows better than me, but he is just not as good as billed and certainly not as good as some behind him on the DC.
