This is dumb. Why is him entertaining other jobs worse than every other coach doing it?

Because he's supposed to be focused on winning a national championship.

This is basically the reason Alabama didn't consider him IMO. When he was OC at Alabama he was fired because he couldn't concentrate on winning the NCG, he was more worried about getting started with his new team.

If Lane is leaving after all that mess

What mess?

The mess that other fanbases melting down because Lane is trolling you for firing your HC mid-season without a potential back-up candidate to take over?

The mess of a program stranded in limbo having to wait until the college football is over to even begin to re-build?

The mess of the uncertainty of settling on a coach that the fanbase is not enthuse about in order to keep your current players from transferring and HS players from de-committing?

I don't think that there is a mess in Oxford, the team is focus, and the majority of Ole Miss fans are enjoying this season and the playoffs.

Eggs zackly!

At this point in their season the HC at Ole Miss should be laser focused on one thing, his next opponent not his next job.

Sooner fans still lament what the 2021 season might have become if the HC had not checked out during the bye week with 3 games remaining.

No one really cares about Ole Miss. If Kiffin leaves and wins a championship at UF or LSU, it will be like Saban leaving Michigan State for LSU--no one felt bad for Michigan State. It was supposed to happen and Kiffin's rep would not suffer one bit.

become an annual tradition at Ole Miss

Any of you pearl-clutching Nancys remember Mullin cucking State fans at the end of every season he was here? He ruined every Christmas because he would never commit to being out coach the following season.

If he's entertaining other jobs, then he's not.

I have no idea what he does with his time. It's very much possible everything is made up hype/clickbait for the media.

But he should be telling people nothing will change until after the Ole Miss season is done, and he should not be entertaining offers or doing anything else until the Ole Miss season is done.

If he doesn't want to be committal to Ole Miss, he should say something along the lines of - I don't know what the future will be, but I know that I am committed to Ole Miss and this season and I will not entertain or consider any job offers until after the season is over. For now, my plans are to stay at Ole Miss and I hope we can continue to build the program to compete at the top stage.

If Lane is leaving after all that mess you really want him coaching in the playoff?

This is a common theme in your post and smart money on your part. You are desperate for Ole Miss to shut Lane down because the longer he stays (and keeps winning) the more likely Florida/LSU are forced to move on without him.

No if I was an Ole Miss fan I would want him gone if he chooses to leave. As a Gator fan it would be a little better if he did come here if he could get to work right away with early signing day and the rest.

Playing the long game… if he can make a D2 quarterback into a top SEC playoff contender, what can he do with a 5-star DJ Lagway at Ole Miss?
