I think Gene Stallings said something about listening to the media/fans. Something along the lines of, "if you listen to them long, you will be in the stands with them soon enough". I think that applies here.
The Auburn reactions here are pretty interesting but probably typical of football fans in general.
I don't think many of them have been particularly pleased with how their team looked on the field last year or with some of the off the field incidents over the last year... but if someone else says something negative about their program then it is on and they all rally around the team

"At some schools they circle the wagons...at AU we go full Jonestown."

I meant for that statement to be positive, but apparently it wasn't taken that way. I've said for a while I think Auburn will be a 8-9 win team. They would have to have no improvement on either side of the ball and lots of dysfunction with the new coordinators to fall to 6-6.

Meaning, if you're solely motivated to prove someone wrong because of what outside forces are saying weeks before the season, maybe you need new forms of motivation. But that's just me. That was the kind of shite I got tired of under Mike Shula. No internal motivation for his team.

Yep, they will thrash Georgia and Richt will have prayer group on the sideline.
Auburn will win at least 8.

yeah they did beat them in '06 or '07, not sure if it was at home though.
they almost beat them in 2010, Okie St. won by like three points in a shootout.

but if someone else says something negative about their program then it is on and they all rally around the team
2. If you want to talk factually about negatives from last season I think you would get little push back. If you want to predict doom and gloom because last season was a struggle, I think AU fans are going to offer reasons why they think you are wrong. Pretty SOP for college football fans.

The last time AU played UGA and Vandy we lost. Same can't be said for MSU?

If you can up what you are saying with sound logic, that is fine.
Arguing that Auburn is too young and MSU is out for revenge as why we will lose (we are more experienced than MSU). Also, saying Venebles will improve Clemson's D that gave up 70 pts. In the bowl game, while AU is going to struggle with a new D, as the main reason we lose is intellectually dishonest.
What would LSU fans say if they said Bama was going to win because bama won the most recent match up, and is more experienced in big games? See how ludicrous that argument is?
