FWIW: this is a legal move. Journalists/media outlets have to cover their asses. if it comes out that the tapes they had were fake, there could be (expensive) libel suits. if they put "alleged" before it, they're off the hook.

FBI is not involved. I have dealt with them too damn many times, and have friends that work for them. They would not be involved unless there are tapes other compelling evidence. This is about to get bad as everyone will now lawyer up and plead the fifth. Then NCCA will declare will ineligible. It is not Court TV, and not beyond reasonable doubt or even clear and convincing proof. It is whatever standard they say it is.

Until now there were no allegations AU did anything wrong. There still is no proof. If this stuff turns out to be true then you won't see too many AU fans defending Chizik, Newton, Jacobs etc... Until there is something more than unnamed sources from places with obvious axes to grind we will continue to support Cam and the rest of the team.
