It's OFFICIAL AJ Hawk Released

If anyone wants to sign him they better do it fast.

related issue, I wonder if we see a flurry of releases right before the CBA expires.

Thanks I was trying to think of something for the most overused cliche in sports thread
quote:

i keep seeing this being said. can you explain to someone less knowledgeable how things are going to change under the new deal in this respect?

things changed because there isn't a new deal. Since free agency started in the NFL, after 4 or 5 years of NFL service you were a unrestricted free agent. When they failed to extend the CBA, and the last year of it started it changed 2 important rules 1) no salary cap 2) to be a unrestricted free agent you had to have 6 years of NFL service.

So guys like Moore who would have been unrestricted under the original rules became restricted. There is every reason to believe that a new CBA will revert back to the original rules meaning all players with 4 years will be unrestricted.

Even Peter King who has been little more than a mouthpiece for the owners on the CBA said in his Monday article
quote:

that when a new CBA happens, unrestricted free agency will revert to the original rules -- if you're not franchise- or transition-tagged when unsigned after four or five years, you're free
quote:

That being said, Lance has been in this position before and the number of teams lining up for him was not exactly overwelming

Yeah no one is giving up a 2nd and a deal for Moore.

That said he will be a unrestricted free agent under the new CBA. He will have more suitors once that 2nd rounder isn't part of the price tag.

Someone will. I bet he gets a pretty good 3-4 year deal.

oh I'm sure someone will. Right after a new CBA is in place, bc according to the owners they are getting ripped of by the current deal, some team will greatly overpay for him.

This is business. If someone offered Lance Moore starting wide receiver money he's leave the Saints in a heartbeat and not think twice. The Saints are doing what's best for them.

Remember this when the new CBA gets done and Lance isn't a RFA anymore. Remember if he leaves it's just business and he is doing what's best for him

"Decertification" in this instance will almost certainly be viewed by the court as a sham used by the NFLPA to create leverage. In the long-run, if this lasts, a lockout will occur

not to hijack the thread but I disagree. Worked in 87, will probably work now. Owners wont argue that it's a sham either, they will argue to NLRB, as they already have that the Players haven't bargained in good faith. Could work but I doubt it
quote:

no one really knows how things will shakeout in regard to free agency status/years until a new CBA

This whole RFA tender thing seems to be a waste of time.

No one can sign FA's till a new CBA is in place. There is zero chance under a new CBA these 4 and 5 year guys will be restricted free agents.

The only way I see the RFA thing mattering is if the players get there way and decertify, preventing the lockout from happening

Tweet from that guy at SportsbyBrooks.

He followed it up with another tweet saying it was good news.
Good to hear. He's not a pro bowl player anymore but still a good player that fills a need. Also maybe he finds the fountain of HGH I mean youth somewhere.

Wonder what he is getting paid

REgardless of the fact he doesn't make sense for the Saints, in general I wouldn't give Rice a big contract.

He has really only had one legit year. Take out 09 and he has like 50-60 catches other 3 years combined
quote:

This is pretty big, but I'm sure that as soon as the ruling was given that the owners were on the phone with banks to get a line of credit like they've done in the past.

I'm sure the owners were pretty confident about getting this TV money, but they will have other means of getting funds.

yeah no owner is going to have to sell their yachts to make it I'm sure. But it does help put pressure on owners to cave at the table
quote:

but they could have afforded to

Wonder if Jerry can make mortgage payments wout that TV money
quote:

What does that mean in terms of football next season, thats all that I care about

A little more pressure on the owners to come to the table.

According to some reports, the owners hate Doty, the judge who oversees their CBA and have tried to get him removed multiple times
Adam schefter tweeted.

quote:

Doty ruled for Players in TV Case. Overturned Burbank's Decision. All TV Contracts violate CBA. Separate earing to come on the damages.

pretty big IMO
quote:

How come everytime anybody becomes a free agent people on this board start a thread about how the Saints should go out and sign them???

something to talk about?
Wonder what Reali makes per year.
quote:

Guy, just say you dont like Kerrigan, its fine.

Because now you're just talking total nonsense

already said I don't like Kerrigan for the Saints. The Saints have a 250 pound DE by the name of Junior Galette we don't need another at the cost of a 1st round pick.

And if you disagree thats your opinon but just saying it is nonsense shows you sticking your head in the sand rather than discuss anything. Knock yourself out with that.
