quote:Fair enough- mostly bc of the back-to-back titles. But- Arkansas is ahead of them and Florida should be 4- behind Tennessee, too.
I think Florida would be hard to keep out of tier 2 even with their issues with facilities and fan engagement. It’s still a huge name brand with recent success in a great location. Where they have it is fair imo.

Pretty fair list - as others have said, I think Florida clearly has to be behind Arkansas and Tennessee.
Auburn is difficult to rank because you don't know what a post-Pearl world will look like there - but he's established some things that will continue to work with or without him. A fanbase, nice facilities, pipelines in Georgia and specifically Atlanta, etc. So I think that Tier 3 category makes sense. I'd also probably have Missouri in that tier.
Tier 1 - Kentucky
Tier 2 - Arkansas, Tennessee, Florida
Tier 3 - Alabama, LSU, Auburn, Missouri
Tier 4 - Texas A&M, Georgia (the "sleeping giants" tier)
Tier 5 - Mississippi State, South Carolina, Vanderbilt, Ole Miss

I think your tiers may be a little better than the article. I think Mizzou is tough to rank as well. Nice facilities, solid history, decent recruiting area. The move to the SEC just seems to have really hurt them in hoops.

This seems to be a well thought out article. History has proven that when Alabama recruits the talent, and has quality coaching, the support is excellent. I expect news on decisions concerning our facility a little later this year.

Whats with the TN love?
They legit have one Elite 8 appearance in program history. That is it. Nothing else besides one in 2010.
Kentucky, Arkansas/Florida then a good drop off

Lol at them saying our program is a distant 2nd to ole miss.
We did go through a rough patch after Stansbury but since 1990 have been a solid program consistently. We do need to upgrade our facilities though
But we have far more accomplishments than ole miss in basketball. And they seem to forget how awful the Sad Pad was there until they built the new arena recently

Accurate.
SC seems like a program that should be so much better than it is.

good recruiting area, top shelf facilities, good support, pay their coaches a lot of money. As far as SEC programs go, not sure why you'd put them in a lower tier

Georgia basketball might be the least relevant SEC program among the big 3 sports. I’d have them tier 6.

LSU had talent last year. Defense and coaching staff was pathetic. Will that change this year?
