They’re still praising him after this disappointing season and while he’s getting clocked by USCe.

This guy won’t make it 3 years at Notre Dame.

But transparent would mean if they said "Marcus Freeman is god's gift to coaching, and we're only saying that because he's a black dude." You are probably looking for another word.

Losing to Marshall and Stanford is a bad omen.

I have watched ND football since the 1960s. My dad went there even though LSU was his #1 team as an adult. The media ALWAYS lauds the ND HC...ALWAYS! Same with Marcus Freeman.

Sidenote: the ONLY reason some in the media have been down on Brian Kelly is because he chose to leave ND for somewhere else. You don't leave America's team, in their minds.

He's not black. He's biracial. It's a difference.

Seems like he did a pretty good job turning their season around. I hope he does a great job at ND as well.

That's a good point , but even Saban went 7-6 his first at Bama.

This is the same mindset as BLM, except in reverse.

"Oh, you wouldn't be saying that it it was a black man!"

Announcers prop up pretty much every new coach. "Just going to need some time to change the culture. Just needs to get some more of his players in there." Etc.

I challenge you to name one first year coach ever that the announcers didn't give the benefit of the doubt and say flattering things.

Started out bad but finished pretty decent. I wouldn't characterize their season as "disappointing".

Notre Dame lost a lot this offseason. Not sure why people are acting like 8-4 is a terrible first season.

Kirby lost to Vandy and GT and just barely beat Nicholls St his first year.

Freeman inherited a far better team than Saban did. And I don't give shite about his skin color. I wish him well unless he's playing LSU.

If any mention of a black coach makes you uncomfortable you should turn the television off. Geez

Next year is make it or break it for him though - has to hit at least 10 wins with the schedule and resources + the recruiting class he pulled in this year (even though Oregon stole some high prized recruits)
