Its about Bama being singled out without night ooc home games in August and September (which UGA usually never has either).

Bama has more because UGA has fewer OOC home games (we schedule home and homes).

Congrats Bama.
It's in your head. The heat must be making you paranoid.

Yes the thing that 13 other schools refuse to do. It is truly amazing how fricking stupid Louisianans are.

You do know that we already have it 2 more times on the future schedules (thus the multiple times before you get 2 home and homes on the same season)

In 2028 and 2029........if that happens more power to you.

Nobody is going to play 2 top tier P5 teams and another average P5 team + a 8 game SEC schedule under the current playoff format.

I love how Bama likes to bitch about their schedule but then beg the conference to remove Bamas control over their schedule for more imperial conference control.

Your AD publicly shames himself, and your solution (instead of firing the AD) is to remove his responsibility and give it to the conference in the control of more games.

Why dont you just fire the guy and schedule better?

I don't think we've expressed any opinion over the method of construction of the 9 game schedule, just joined with others in saying that if we are going to have such a large conference we'd like to play more members of said conference more often.

On the bright side, those hot conditions get their players a literal “get out of jail free” card for their suffering.

We scheduled it in a similar format.
And we've scheduled it for the current format.

Why dont you just admit that your AD is better at public outcry than actually doing his job.

As I originally said, Bama fans are so oblivious that their complaints about the wrongs done to them have been done to the entire conference. UGA goes years without OOC night home games. UGA has even seen a season without any night home games at all.

But for some reason... bama is oblivious to the world around you.

You're starting to get some of that Texas stench on your fanbase.

You miss the obvious points.
1) you have zero control over conference scheduling (including bye weeks before your games... or is that a touchy subject). You complain about schedules but want to remove the control that you physically have.

2) you can play teams more often in ways without a 9 game schedule.

And no... Saban doesn't state 9 conference games for the sake of playing teams more often. He publicly wants to remove OOCs from the schedule and privately wants to recruit over his opponents with more games in their territory.

I remember when Bama made a huge stink about opponent bye weeks before their games (we have 5 this season, but I dont see any crying).

Maybe I miscounted, but I see you have 4 this season, 2 of wich you guys also have a bye before. So you would be playing 2 (or 3) games against opponents coming off a bye when UGA has a game the week before. The SEC made a rule after 2010 limiting it to 3 games max, so that number falls into that rule.

Alabama's final 6 SEC games in 2010 were against teams with a bye week before Bama. LSU was the 1 game Bama also had a bye. So we had 5 SEC games where we had a game the week before and the other team was on a bye. That's a giant number.

San Jose State (2014)
Arkansas State (2016)
Georgia Southern (2017)
Alabama State (2018)
Tulane & Kent State (2019)

Those are Auburn's September OOC night games since the SEC Network was started. Real power house teams there. It's not about quality of opponent.

That was done by fans. This story is something your University President and Athletic Director did.

Ummm....

quote:

Dear Tiger Fan, It is truly unfortunate that, for the first time in 76 years, LSU will not play a Southeastern Conference game at night in Tiger Stadium the entire 2011 season. Saturday Night in Tiger Stadium is a tradition for our fans, a staple in college football and one of the unique experiences in all of sports. It is the hallmark of LSU football, a brand for our athletics program. It is revered by football pundits and feared by Tiger opponents. But with success comes a price, and in this case the price is afternoon kickoffs instead of night football. CBS will always take the game it deems to be the most interesting and that will often involve teams that are playing at the highest level. LSU is ranked No. 1 in the BCS standings at this moment and that puts Tiger Stadium in the cross-hairs of any TV network. LSU is fortunate to be a member of the Southeastern Conference. It is the most successful and prestigious conference in America. It is the home of the last five college football national champions - and numerous national champions in other sports - so Tiger fans regularly get to witness the very best college football has to offer. I am sure you are aware of the many recent changes in conference alignments. LSU is fortunate to be in a viable, stable and successful conference and not in the volatile situation many high profile universities find themselves in right now. As a conference member, LSU must abide by the television contracts that have been negotiated by the SEC. The financial benefit of being a member of the SEC helps make the LSU athletics program as successful as it is while also remaining self-sufficient - using no state tax dollars and no student fees. Without the television revenue from the SEC, this would not be possible. It is important for you to know two things: LSU cannot refuse to move a game. If we are requested to move a game for television, under the existing TV contracts, we must do so. LSU receives no additional money for playing a game in the afternoon. Whether kickoff is in the morning, afternoon or night, LSU receives the same money from the SEC. I think I speak for everyone at LSU that we would rather play all of our games at night. But to remain a competitive program we must be a member of a conference and therefore must abide by its TV contracts. So I hope you will come to Tiger Stadium on Saturday afternoon and make it just as loud and intimidating as it would be after dark. There is no place like Tiger Stadium on Saturday night, but there is no place like Tiger Stadium on Saturday afternoon, either. As always, we welcome your comments at athletics@lsu.edu. Unfortunately we cannot answer every e-mail we receive, but please be assured they are all read. Geaux Tigers! Joe Alleva Vice Chancellor and Director of Athletics

You realize things like making requests to improve a situation that he and his fanbase sees as a problem is literally him doing his job......right?

Like, that's one his job requirements. He did it. It's strange that you seem to not understand that.

And most seem to think it was absolutely a futures bet on a changing landscape of CFP in 10 years, including many in your fanbase on this board. One that if it does change, will have other schools doing the same.

Are there a lot of other wrongs being done to us that we have been vocal about? We noted the bye week thing like 6 years ago.

What else am I missing here?

Except that factually they haven't.

And get the frick out of here with that "GT is a home and home" shite. Metro Atlanta is home to 5 million more UGA fans than Athens is.

And the conference corrected it, because it was an overwhelming disadvantage. Meansonny is literally fricking stupid.

I'm missing no points. The control over conference scheduling is that we want to play more games within the conference.

That is the entire point of being in a conference - to play games against teams in that conference.

quote:

You complain about schedules

I mean, we're not "complaining" about a 8 game schedule. We, like a bunch of other schools, would be in favor of moving to a 9 game schedule. Georgia is of the view that we should stay at a 8 game schedule, with much of it having to do with their rivalry game with Georgia Tech.

That's fine - that's advocating for your position. Everything is not some 12 year old tantrum. We have different thoughts on issues, we present them, that's that.

And no... Saban doesn't state 9 conference games for the sake of playing teams more often. He publicly wants to remove OOCs from the schedule and privately wants to recruit over his opponents with more games in their territory.

Yea........we want to play Georgia in Athens, Missouri in Columbia and Florida in Gainesville 2 times in 8 years instead of 1 time so that we can steal recruits.

That's it. No tin foil hat thinking there.

home and home

The definition of home and home is playing in an opponents stadium.

I understand in the confines of what control your AD has in scheduling (OOC), this is a foreign concept to you.

Let me introduce you to what SOG already knows.
1) football fans like to travel
2) it is easier to schedule a home and home than a neutral site game
3) because your opponent will actually have a physical advantage in the game over your team.

I see a lot of bitching from your president, your AD, and your fanbase.
But the reality is that your AD thinks his job is to bitch and not put together the appropriate schedule for the fans. It is called a misdirection.

And you fans are eating it up.
You are either simpletons for buying it. Or masochists for putting up with him.
