Three buddies and I have airfare credit we will lose if we don’t use by the end of Dec. on American Airlines. So, I’m assuming we have to fly in to Birmingham, stay in a hotel near Birmingham because the hotels in Tuscaloosa will be full unless we make reservations today, drive to B-D on game day and then drive back to a hotel near Birmingham.

What am I missing?

Tuscaloosa is a tough one to get to by air, maybe only Mississippi State is worse. AA used to fly to Meredian but now it's only on United. BHHAM and a car is your best bet.

Get to the stadium about 3 hours before the game because there are gonna be some super activities before kickoff...really don't want to miss'em!

Don’t go.

Not worth it. Use your AA miles for another destination.

AA doesn't have many flights in and out of Birmingham, so good luck with that.

Also, all the hotels in Tuscaloosa are probably already sold out.

It’s was either B-D or roll the dice on a bowl game. When we were discussing this earlier I didn’t realize that you had to fly in to Birmingham. I’ve read enough to think that flying to a Bama game is not a good option.

I guess we’ll fly to Tampa and watch the Tigers play Michigan in the Outback Bowl.

Fly into GTR and stay in Columbus. Much better amenities over there.

If that is an option it would also be a whole lot easier to get in and out.

Getting out of Tuscaloosa after a game and heading towards Demopolis/Meridian/Columbus is much, much easier than heading up 20/59.

Lease a plane, fly into North Port catch a Uber to and from the stadium. Problem solved.

Not to mention hotel rates in Tuscaloosa on game weekends are through the roof. I'd say avg of $350 per night with two night minimum.

We usually stay in Gardendale, decent rates and good restaurants right around the hotels.

Ahh, no. I mean if generic chain restaurants is what you are looking for, sure. If you are looking for a good time and some local flavor, I'd stay downtown or the Homewood/Mtn. Brook area which puts you closer to the action.

Lots of good breweries and bars downtown. Great restaurants as well.

Flying into Northport will save you a lot of trouble from sitting in that dump heap Birmingham.
