Not for elite or bad coaches, just the average ones IMO.

Saban won with Blake Sims. Urban won everywhere. Trask was about to be wasted at UF until Mullen got there and salvaged him.

My questions: last year he declared the defense was better than at any point in 2019. And what is “new” other than the coaching staff? And why was there not “attention to detail,” “learning from coaches,” or “energy,” or “the same offense...” etc., last year?
There are plenty of LSU fans asking the same questions. They just don't come on the SEC Rant. Personally, it annoys me that Coach O gets to continuously make bad hires, say "whoopsie daisy", fire them, and then hire someone else.

The statement was about it taking good assistants and quarterback play to win.

I'd argue that Blake Sims was pretty good that year, he threw for like 3500 yards, 28 touchdowns, and 10 picks. Believe he completed like 65% of his passes.

That staff was also very good, had multiple head coaches on it.

No one is consistently winning these days without good quarterback play and good assistants, certainly not conference or national championships.

How are you convinced those were bad hires?

Sullivan was the PGC in a season in which LSU was pretty solid throwing the ball despite a lack of experience across the board.

Canada is currently an NFL OC and was basically the Joe Brady of that time.

Linehan and Pelini were canned after one season in which they had very little returning experience and barely any offseason to implement anything.

I personally think the game has passed Pelini by but its hard to say someone is a bad coach after only one year.

What if they spent several years at Ole Miss and had an abysmal record? Would you say they were bad then?
