Nonono. You want to call your coach a QB guru. And now you want to criticize our coaches QB moves.

I'd love for you to explain how your QB guru of a coach did not see that Trask was a better QB than Alpaca.

Brought in two transfers to start a guy who has never played a down of college ball. "We have faith in you, kid, really...but we really need to tap that portal like we're drunk and we will take anyone who will go home with us."

Because it makes more sense to go into the season with only Mathis and a true freshman on the roster?

Has Brennan tucked tail and opted out like the rest of the LSU football team? Just curious.

Nope LSU’s starting QB is still playing. What number starting QB are Georgia fans on? I believe this is the 3rd starting QB. Newman was going to win the heisman, then he opted out “because Daniels beat him out”. Now Daniels is hurt so Georgia is in it 3rd starting QB and a game hasn’t been played yet.

I gotta give it to you straight, Porter. You got me here. I'm sure I could find more on the Georgia Board.

QB4 - Stetson Bennett (Practically a walkon)

How can a player on scholarship be a walkon?

What is "practically" a walkon? I was under the impression that you were either a walkon or you were not a walkon. Did they create a new category?

It was a bad move, I've said it for years. I've always been critical of the coaching staff sticking with Franks.

I mean, just ask any Florida fan who was leading the Crusade of anti-Franks propaganda. You're basically asking me to reiterate that it was idiotic for Mullen to do that.

But that's just a weak copout to avoid acknowledging that Kirby did everything in his power to not start Dwan Mathis, split 1st teams reps and right up until we were two weeks out of starting the season named him the starter.

He was taken on as a walk-on, left Georgia, came back and earned a scholarship.

I will tell you right now: Stetson Bennett is not a college Quarterback, he will never start for Georgia unless Carson Beck is hot dogshit. He will always be on the bench, and will only play in extreme circumstances.

But he's a QB guru! Everybody gets better under Mulllen! Kirby is crap! Kirby won't win when all of Richt's players are gone!

Dude. you are batting .000 when it comes to Georgia predictions and when it comes to Mulllen you are not doing so well, either.

Chew on that for awhile. I'm headed to bed.

Good luck. You'll find a few idiots praising JT though.

You're the one being triggered here.

For what it's worth: I am very good at predicting Quarterbacks. I predicted Trask was better than Franks in 2018 (I have the post if you want to see it), I predicted Fromm would bust out and said that he was only successful because of Michel/Chubb.

I also predicted Dwan Mathis would start for Georgia.

For whatever reason, I just get Quarterbacks.

Mathis can actually be very successful if he has good instincts, chaos is his friend this season because of all the moving pieces on Georgia's offense. (Both starting RBs gone, 4 starters on the OL gone, both starting TEs gone, OC, OL coach, new system etc.)

Hopefully he has good instincts for you guys.

It really hasn't. UF is in substantially better shape than anytime this last decade.

We are pretty happy.

You grab transfers to sure up weak parts of your roster.

Hence Georgia grabbing two transfer QBs. Because you did not have a valid QB on your roster. Not sure why that is so hard to understand. Mathis was likely never expected to play meaningful minutes. So you panicked and went and got the transfers, and neither is actually able to play. So now you're stuck with the guy you pulled two guys in to start in front of.

That "wealth of QB talent" they had a month ago has literally whittled down to a guy who has never played a down of College Ball, a previous Walk-on and a true Freshman.

As I said in another thread: You don't hit the Portal twice (with a graduate transfer, especially) if you already have a stud on the roster. It could still work out for them, but the staff clearly didn't have a ton of faith in Mathis.

Do you want me to pull his stats from 2018? He finished
3rd in the country in QBR and had 2nd best year in the history of UGA.

Coaches were big on Mathis last fall. He has a lot of the tangibles. And he has a good rapport with the receiving corps.

The concern for Mathis is the same issues with Trask last season. No game reps in almost 2 years (and those were at the HS level). How will his decision-making be? On top of the lack of game reps, this is a new offensive scheme.

The hope is that he could see improvement from week to week (just like we may be seeing in practice this fall). But that is a hope. Not every QB develops that quickly.

From what I see, the starting job isnt won yet. But Mathis has a good shot. He has more tools than the other QBs. Can he get his football IQ where it needs to be and can the OC utilize the team's strengths and hide the weaknesses.
