I still believe somebody put something in the grass that morning.
Someone put something in the grass every game then, because clock management was like a foreign language to him.
My personal favorite was when Dooley and Les were having a competition on who could do the worse coaching job.

“ Two stories on Curly Hallman moves. The first I heard first hand from a starting LSU O lineman. Curly had the bright idea of rotating the first a second unit ever so many plays. LSU gets the kickoff against Auburn and drives down inside the 10 with first and goal. According the play count it was time to change lines so they pull all the starters and put in the 2nd string. They proceed to go 4 and out and lose.
The other was a story I read where Jesse Daigle who was a QB would had also played WR. He practices all week at WR and Curly comes to him right before kickoff and tells him he is starting the game that week.
I am sure there are many more stories the worst coach in LSU history.”
Hallman was a mediocre coach but he had Brett Favre at USM for three years (1988-1990). Well Brett carried the team all three years and made the HC look great. Got to LSU and completely flopped.
Sometimes a great player can cover the flaws of a bad coach.

Returning most of Mike Leach's air raid offense and deciding to implement a run first offense while half the fanbase celebrates this change. Shocking not even a bowl.

This is such bullshite. Cut inherited an insanely talented team, could only manage 9 wins, lost many games he had no business losing, and refused to recruit. By the time he was fired we were so depleted of talent that we didn't have a winning season for years.
This.
Cut’s QB replacement for Eli did go on to several NFL seasons……as a kickoff returner.

Cut’s health started to deteriorate so he couldn’t recruits and his assistants weren’t recruiting for shite. The AD told him he needed to replace his assistants with solid recruiters or else. Cut picked “or else”

Skip Dumbass Holtz telling Kenny Irons that he wasn't SEC running back material.

Bama hiring a guy from Washington who thought he could continue to live the same lifestyle in the Bible belt.

Freeze rushing two on 4th and 31 deserves a shout out.
He even used a spy on the play. What good was that spy going to do? The DC had 30 yards of real estate to work with and any of the defense should've been able to converge on the ball carrier.

I've never felt worse for a player after a non-injury play. He was devastated.
That was a Cristobal level coaching F up.

2019 Florida had LSU on the ropes more than any other opponent (sorry UT, auburn, bama) only for Dan Mullen to sub Jones in for Kyle Trask and completely flipped all the momentum to LSU in that 4th quarter.
I feel like you're misremembering this, Jones had 9 carries for 36 yards, 1/3 passing, he wasn't really killing LSU.
It was tied at 21 at halftime then the possessions in the second half went:
Florida touchdown
LSU touchdown
Florida punt
LSU touchdown
Florida punt
LSU punt
Florida interception
LSU touchdown
Florida turnover on downs
LSU end game
LSU put the clamps on them in the second half, they scored on their first drive and that was it.

That OleMiss -LSU game, with Miles fricking up the clock...first time I ever heard my Mama say the F-word.
Thanks Les!
That game and 1/9 were the worst coaching jobs in SEC history.

Gene stallings not ever starting Shaun Alexander. Finally gets in a game off the bench and runs for almost 300 yds in 96 and never sees the field the next 3 games.
Yep. And all because he didn’t block well at practice. Still love Coach Stallings though.

Coach's choose the wrong guy all the time.
Finally, somebody on tRant understands. Anybody who’s spent a week around organized sports at ANY level can see this.
Coaches are stupid people. There’s something about the job that attracts and rewards stubborn and ignorant man-children, stokes their ego, and promotes the worst along with the best.
It’s a very weird vocation.

That’s what im saying, Trask was giving the defense problems with his arm and Mullen pulled him at the weirdest time to get Jones in. Trask comes back in and throws a pick.

Kiffin not feeding Derrick Henry against Oho State when they had no answer for him and was getting 8 ypc. Instead opting to let Blake Sims throw it around and force it to Amari Cooper. Ended the night with 3 bad picks.
