[His former agent] is essentially trying to make [Zion Williamson] say "yes or no" under oath regarding whether or not he accepted impermissible benefits to attend Duke and wear or use Nike.

Don't see this amounting to anything, unless Zion decides to go scorched earth, and why would he?

This is from The Advocate in BR this morning...
quote:

Daniel Wallach, a sports legal analyst who writes for The Athletic, called Ford’s latest legal maneuver a “Hail Mary to try to put some other kind of pressure on Williamson to settle the case.”

“I believe that based on recent developments, there is a higher likelihood that she may lose in North Carolina,” Wallach said. “If she loses in the North Carolina federal court action, she walks away with nothing. This very well could be a last-ditch attempt to pressure him into a lucrative settlement. It may be her only hole card left to play.”

He will say “no” and that will be the end of it, unless they actually have some other evidence that would be admissible to impeach any denials. But usually such requests for admission would indicate they have some kind of evidence they can use if he denies the requests.

What? A sports agent using shady tactics? No way.

This is all about to be legal.. Future players will be paid millions to go to schools like Kansas, Kentucky, Duke, etc.

Why would he deny it, if it happened (it did). I mean it's no like he's gonna suffer any consequences by telling the truth. However, lying under oath is a different matter.

NOTHING will happen to Duke or Kansas !! NOTHINGGGGG !!!

Duke is far from being the squeaky clean program they pretend to be. Coach K knows how to hide their imperfections. Unfortunately his former players who have turned head coach did not learn how to do that or do not believe it is a high priority like Coach K does. Missouri has had our taste of this with Quinn Synder.

Maybe the rest of the programs in the NCAA will decide to start their own governing body after they see two of the purest blue bloods of them all not even get a finger wagged at them that it is time to start their own.

Hit em with an outside the scope objection and deny as written. Classic lawyering

I don't think how this is relevant to their contract

After SMU withered and died the NCAA unofficially took the stance of never applying the death penalty again to a major program. No matter how well deserved. UNC abused the rules so much coaches from the 40s and 50s would have said that was too much. They got a slap on the wrist.

Sure. If a Division 2 or lower school screws the pooch then hang them out to dry and make an example of them. Maybe a major school in a non profitable sport like men's tennis.

They could have footage of Coach K handing out bundles of cash to his players during the game and they wouldn't do anything.

Sure something will happen and something will come of this but not what we all expect. To borrow from the comment of Jerry The Tark:

The NCAA will be so mad at Duke, they will give UTEP and Tulsa 5 years probation.
