No. The SEC would not want two teams in the same market segment. More likely scenario would be Virginia or VTech and NC State.

Virginia Tech has expressed interest in talking to the SEC. That is a school I would like to add. I wanted them over Mizzu. Only reason Mizzu was added is because VTech refused to talk to the SEC last go round.

This is probably the case.

VT and NCSU will be #15 and #16.

However, Duke and UNC would be MONEY.

Va Commonwealth law states both UVA and VT must be in the same conference.

It's not entirely about football.

Better basketball and academics would be huge.

I am surprised we haven't heard over excitement from South Carolina. They would most likely be in this 4 team pod with Kentucky, Duke, and North Carolina.... so pretty much guaranteed division title every year.

How can that be true? Virginia was in the ACC and Tech was in the Big East......

frick it.

SEC should just take in Va Tech, Virginia, UNC, Duke, NC State, Florida State, Clemson, Pitt, Cincy, Notre Dame, Boise State, BYU, Navy, Air Force, SMU, Houston, Rice, San Diego State, UConn, and Syracuse to become the super duper ultra sized SEC USA.

We would play a 12 game SEC schedule and have our own playoff to determine who plays in the national title game.

Lulz. Bigger fish. You realize the tv ratings for UK, Duke, and UNC is huge. No one comes close to those 3.

No. However, it is and always will be, mostly about football, and those two programs suck. Basketball will always play second fiddle to football. Sure, a few of the top basketball programs (KU, Duke, UNC, etc.) can complete with football, but what about the rest? The SEC is a football conference plain and simple. If you want to join, you had better be able to compete. Mizzou is failing so far but still has a much better chance of competing down the road than any of the ACC programs save maybe FSU or Clemson (assuming that program continues to recruit the way it has been recently).

Is football the biggest revenue builder for the SEC? Of course, and its not even close. However these 2 teams can open up a door to a pretty good sized NC market whose basketball success have made the schools well-known names across the nation, even during football season.

As it is I think UNC would be able to scrap up enough wins with a regular SEC schedule to get to a lower bowl which is no different than half of the SEC as it is. Add to it a flagship school in a populated state attached with its biggest rival and well-known basketball brand?

If its a school or schools that when the SEC splits its revenue 16 ways and every school still comes away with more money than it does now then its a good move, regardless of how their football programs are.

A team with major sanctions possibly on the way, no future for football in sight, and an absolutely pathetic fan base, Miami might be one of the worst teams to add.

I agree with Ghost. Do you realize the television market for soccer? This might be the best move for the SEC, it really strengthens the conference in futbol.
