Don't be fooled by last night's game, A&M is the same as it ever was

Their identity revolves around their belief they are the righteous David, destined to slay Goliath. For most of history, Goliath was Texas. Now it's LSU and Alabama.
"This shows A&M's talent, they're on their way up" etc. are bad takes. That kind of thinking applies to normal programs.
A&M isn't normal. The inferiority complex is pathological. They blow their wad on their kings -- sometimes even getting a win -- and then return to their rightful place as a milquetoast program with weird arse cult traditions. See beating Alabama last year then losing to the state of Mississippi.
This is why they will never win a championship. They are too focused on getting a win vs. their Goliaths, rather than elevating themselves to a higher standard to join that group.

The nice thing is that it doesn't really matter whether they fire Jimbo or not. They are who they are.
