Does Trask help or hurt Mullen's reputation as a 'QB guru'?

On one hand, Trask has been very impressive so far. On the other hand, he thought Franks was better.

Better question: does Mond help or hurt Fisher's reputation as a QB guru.
Trask is just starting under Mullen as the main guy.
Mind is in year two as the main guy and seems to have regressed.

I just think Mullen wants a big running QB for his system. Frank’s improved under Mullen but he has reached his peak, he is what he is and no other coach can change that.
Offense is much smoother under trask and the guy is doing it without a reliable run game

Mullen is a QB coach that likes dual threats Trask doesn’t fit his mold, so it’s not surprising one of the most arrogant coaches in the country thought he could fix Franks. Mullen is allergic to passing the football to much anyway. We should have passed the ball 15 more times against LSU. It doesn’t make him a bad coach, just a stubborn one.

After Trask graduates, we'd happily take him as a grad transfer :)

I’d give my left nut to see Trask with Joe Brady’s passing concepts. Obviously not at LSU. What Trask has done in this elementary level passing scheme is amazing. Mullen relies solely on individual matchups in the passing game. Brady schemes receivers open and it would be fun to watch.

Before I rip into how stupid of a take this is on Mullens passing offense, I’ll let you explain yourself.

Honestly, I think think it's easy for us to say he should have known to play him over Franks because weve only seen the end-result.
But judging how a player will do based on practice... given that player didnt even start in HS... would be near impossible unless it was Joe Burrow - Brandon Harris different. That is even assuming Trask played that way in practice, some guys are just unassuming gamers.
Plus Franks had his moments, he was just inconsistent.

Trask is way better than Franks. Physically gifted and cool under pressure.

School me please. I’m not above learning. When I watch film I see no rub routes. No matching patterns just individual receivers running individual routes with no intent of getting someone schemed open. What do you see when you watch the film?

Amazingly, alpacas are harder to train than gingers.

Your first touchdown against LSU, the pass to the back of the endzone, wasn't a matchup problem. We had to linebackers step up to defend a crossing route by Perine, and then a safety vacated a zone to pick up a reciever in the flats, leaving a player wide open in the back of the endzone

This isn’t even in the ballpark of what I’m referencing. I’m interested in the route trees he sees on film. How many combination routes? How often are we putting pressure on defenders to do something other than covering there man or there zone. Hint: almost never.

From the outside looking in, Franks has the height, weight, and better understanding of what Mullen’s wants. To me it seemed that Franks was trying to win the game on every single play, which led to him pressing and ultimately making mistakes, dumb mistakes. He just found a way to frick it up.
Trask may not be as big or have a grasp of all of the pre snap reads, but Trask is not going to lose the game.
I think Mullens was sold on Franks flashy, sometimes cocky attitude.

Dan Mullen got Trask ready to play in Death Valley. He made dozens of solid throws all over the field. I was pretty impressed with the passing game y’all have.

Trask is a helluva of QB. Tough as nails. I think this will help him. Every coach has had a clunker. Who was that poor guy Saban started in 2016 before Hurts?

He’s not a guru... a-hole maybe

Little better than that, 23/39 59% 310 yds 3/1 td/int 90 qbr. First road start ever I’d say he did okay.
