From an LSU fan perspective either option, the realignment of east/west or the adoption of a pod system would greatly diminish hundred year old rivalries but at the same time make LSU an almost permanent preaseason favorite, (ala GA). The East, or east-based pods, would be a meatgrinder.
But all in all, I vote hell no.

Why can't we just get rid of divisions period? Why not?

Agreed.. A NC school(State or UNC) and a Virginia school. (preferably Virginia)should be added imo... Historically and regionally this makes since ...plus the footprint is expanded. NO to the Sooners.

You and one grumpy old guy on STLToday view that as a mistake. Either outcome was a win over what we had before. Vast majority are very happy where we are, and like being connected to the fastest growing part of the country.

That is all week and good, but if the P5 becomes the P4, which conference will be the one to die, the ACC or B12?
Answer this question and you answer your own point.

Missouri doesn't really fit in with the SEC. They aren't Southern. They aren't even a subset of Southern, like Texan.
Tell that to the Missouri Legislature.
They're diving headlong into turning Mizzou into a Red state instead of bellweather it's been for 100+ years.
You may not consider Missouri southern, but for better or worse, they are now.
BTW, talk about the ultimate conference realignment... Read up on The Missouri Compromise and tell me Missouri isn't southern. Mizzou was considered a prize in that expansion, too.

Texas and Oklahoma to the ACC, replacing NC State and Virginia Tech.

Interesting premise, but no ties to reality.

Easy there Mizz, you know it's usually not a good thing to bring real history to the table here. People like to base shite on their perceptions, and Gradual is a classic case of that.

I see your slave territory map, and raise it with this one...
...that's right, all that was once Louisiana, b*tches! Imagine that recruiting territory!

The actual Louisiana Purchase didn't contain anything south of Alexandria.

Yep, that was the best real estate deal in history. Not only financially, but also doubled the land mass of the USA at the time.
I guess I can say I'm a semi Louisiana native.

Can anyone really provide a legit reason why you wouldn't want a team with 7 National championships, 5 Heisman trophy winners, and owner to the longest winning streak at 47 games brought to your conference?
And is your school's overall football history and prestige better than OU's, or did your team beat them once in a bowl game?
I'm really just trying to understand the general consensus and logic, because the general consensus seems to be that OU is mediocre and can be compared to Nebraska (who has more national championships than every SEC school except for Alabama by the way), and apparently school's like OU, Nebraska, Notre Dame must now take a seat due to the new SEC Network.
Does this sound about right?

I can name five.
1. Minimal market increase at best.
2. The Boone Pickens Problem (Oklahoma State)
3. Geographical imbalance.
4. Low academic profile.
5. Stadium would be the 8th largest in the conference, behind A&M, Tennessee, Alabama, Auburn, LSU, Georgia, and Florida.

Oklahoma is a top 5 all-time FB program.
It's not about the number of TVs in Oklahoma, because they are a national brand( much more so than most of you would like to admit.)
They would also get an immediate SEC bump for recruiting just like TAMU has.
I'm glad we took the Aggies, they are a good fit for the SEC, but OU would be a much better get than any of the last 4 teams added(yes, I'm including my Razorbacks in this statement)
