Does the SEC really want to go through Discovery with the LSU litigation?

I’m assuming that the SEC knows that discovery goes both ways in litigation, correct?
Email chains and other electronic records are forever.
You can’t tell me that the SEC wants attorneys representing LSU from seeking and getting any all documents that may be even tangentially related to the issues of this litigation.
You want to see a conference implode? Stankey better hope and pray the SEC servers and conference phones are Lilly white.
The rabbit hole that liberal discovery rules can open are IMMENSE.

Maybe that is how the breakaway occurs with the biggest teams from the SEC and Big10.

Perhaps. But hard to imagine that the LSU brass concocted this with Kiffin to bait the SEC into something like this all in an effort to break away.
This litigation by the SEC reeks of it being personal against one person- Lane Kiffin.
They don’t like how he conducts himself, his attitude, and how he left OM before the playoffs.

No one nor any institution is beyond some type of skeleton or scandal that is hidden from public knowledge

It's a far-fetched conspiracy theory, but if it were plausible to consider, I think it's the other way around. That is, it is multiple SEC schools wanting a good excuse to blow up the conference in hopes of a Big 24 super alliance.

Uh, if there's a quorum and at least 11 universities vote yes on expelling LSU, what need is there for litigation?

Then, they'll have to start a "move the SEC offices out of Tuscaloosa" mantra.
I could see Saban taking over the SEC, although I'd hoped he'd replace Byrne... to hell with those concerned about the awkwardness it would create for football coaches and staff

LSU going to allege anti-trust/collusion and it was done simply to cause their university harm?
Well LSU actions since Kiffin arrived have compromised not just the legitimacy of the SEC, but college athletics in general. But I don't even think it's a Kiffin problem, it's an institutional problem at LSU as this extends to both men and women's basketball as well

That's a bold assumption about a conference who's president can't define what constitutes a professional athlete and was woefully ignorant about the 5 for 5 rule.

Could the SEC survive the prying eyes of plaintiff lawyers going through their dirty laundry? My guess is NO

In an effort to avoid discovery they could settle with LSU for an exorbitant amount in an effort to get LSU from moving forward. You are potentially talking hundreds of millions of dollars in damages.
