Considering the main reason the playoffs were created was to prevent an all SEC NC

The playoffs are working as intended.

Everyone who is losing their minds about the SEC getting 2 teams in forgets that it was about 2011 and that they wanted 2 SEC teams and Oklahoma St.

Both won and earned their place. If people want to place blame, put it on Oklahoma and Clemson for not winning.

So the answer is no, this was always a situation that was acceptable if not counted on.

I mean how could they not? They have a tainted "national championship game" Monday that no one is going to watch because we already know the champs are UCF. This is pretty much just the real SEC championship game.

the 4 team came about because people believed that Okie Lite deserved a shot in 2011. Alabama proved they belonged, but LSU was undefeated so they couldnt be left out either.

This year if you were going to debate it the only way to go is to say that Clemson or Oklahoma didn't belong since they both lost with Alabama crushing Clemson. It killed the entire narrative of Bama did not belong.

The worst thing for college football radio was bama beating the tar out of Clemson. Had they lost badly there would be material for the entire off season about an 8 team playoff or should only conference champs be allowed to play.

The BCS was sufficient and did what it was designed to do, which was pair the SEC champion with the #2 team in the country. So here we are with a playoff and it still did what it was designed to do.

The BCS had no politicians or ADs in a conference room deciding a team's fate.

2017 gives us the below

baseball - 64 teams gave us SEC vs SEC
WBB - 64 teams gave us SEc vs SEC
FB - 4 teams gave us SEC vs SEC

The rest of them need to get thier shite together and not worry about how many teams get in the playoffs

All an eight team playoff would do is make it even more likely the SEC gets two teams in the final but I'm fine with it if they do.

I’ve wanted a 16 team playoff that the 1st round included the P5 conf champ games and a G 5 top2 matchup and then 2 at large games.

The benefit of expanding to 8 or 16 , even though there is a very likely chance you get 2 teams in the final from same conference, is I believe any controversy about it would go away because it’s your own fault if you don’t get in.

We've been in all 4 playoffs and it will only make it easier for BAMA to get in with a 5+3 playoff system.

I wouldn't bet against it and it's gonna happen sooner
rather than later...believe me the current contract will get renegotiated. There's just way too much money to be made. The current play off/bowl package is worth around
$540 million annually and they can probably push up to $900 million with an 8 team playoff. Not that I'm in favor of it because we ALREADY have an 8 team playoff
(Close enough) with the conference championship games.

Wisconson,Auburn and Miami all had a shot and were eliminated

This is exactly right! Personally, I'd love an expanded playoff, but don't come bitching when Alabama, tOSU or another school sits their players for the end-of-season big rivalry game or conference championship because they've got the playoffs locked up....and the only way you can keep that from happening is to seed the teams and award byes.

FIFY

Note: If we move to a new 8 team playoff Bama will have broken the BCS and the CFP systems.

The downside to an 8 team playoff is that Bama will make it every year because the committee will never in Saban's career time be lower than 8.

6 teams.
3-6 4-5 play at the higher seeds home field
1-2 get bi this takes away setting players at the end of the season
Take conference champions if they are better than non conference champions
But you still choose the 6 best teams
