Make sure you understand this, I don't think TN has been in the top half of SEC East teams the past 5 years.

Just for argument sakes and showing how fortunate you are to have the two titles you've won, by going over the differnces in schedule strengths.

I don't think many Missouri fans can argue with a straight face that if your West opponents in 2013 were Auburn and @Bama and your 14 west opponents were @Ole Miss and Bama that you would have won the East either year.

It just wouldn't have happened.

I have never seen a program fall as far Tennessee fell and build back what was once a powerhouse program.

Here is our current 11-year run:

2004..10...3
2005...5...6
2006...9...4
2007..10...4
2008...5...7
2009...7...6
2010...6...7
2011...5...7
2012...5...7
2013...5...7
2014...7...6
-----------------
.........74...64

Here is a recent 11 year run by a mystery team:

1997...4...7
1998...7...5
1999..10...3
2000...3...8
2001...7...5
2002..10...3
2003...4...9
2004...6...6
2005..10...2
2006...6...7
2007...7...6
-----------------
.........74...61

Recognize the mystery team? Alabama

or to look at it another way, since joining the SEC Mizzou is 10-2 vs Vandy UK, Tenn and Fl, and you aren't one of the 2.

Did UGA beat better West opponents than us? Yes they did, last time I checked you aren't UGA either,,, didn't figure you for a redcoat tail rider.

Clearly we landed in the SEC at the right place/time, I'm not sure exactly how we engineered the timely FL and TN demise, or the flush, West scheduling.. guess we are far more powerful than anyone realizes!

Why is it hard for Missouri fans to admit if they had the 1st or 2nd toughest west draws the last two years they wouldn't have won either of their titles.

Anyone with eyes can see that and it is pretty much fact but they can't admit it.

You all know that if you hadn't lucked into the 2nd easiest West schedule the last two seasons you would just be exactly like A&M. A middling new addition that got the SEC a good amount of money.

I have a serious question for Mizzou fans. Not trolling.

What are your expectations over the next 10 years in the SEC?

Do you expect to have a better record than Georgia? Florida? Tennessee? South Carolina?

I expect us to do exactly what we did before. A really good team every 3 years or so, then a drop when we start a new QB. By the third year, they know the system and they have a good season. It's pretty much worked that way since HCGP got started.

To answer your question JQ yes this has happened many times. The winner of the East isn't always the best team. In 2010 SC in my opinion was not the best team in the East and very likely was the worst East team to ever play in the SEC Title game. Many questioned them and the way they won the division. In 2007 EVERYONE thought UGA was the best team in the East and they likely were. Pretty sure they ended up #2 in the entire country that year. TN got drilled by Cal, UF and Bama that season but was able to get lucky and catch UGA on an off day in Neyland and routed them to win the tiebreaker. TN also squeeked by Vandy, USC and UK down the stretch to hold on. It doesn't mean you didn't fairly WIN the East to say there were likely a better team or two each year than yours. But sometimes the best team doesn't win the division. I and many others feel Missouri has been able to miraculously have circumstances to help them do that two years in a row. It doesn't change the history books just perception.

All of this right here. We backed into that 2007 East title

Way too many unknowns at all programs to tell, but I think a lot will depend upon how many more seasons Pinkel is our HC before he calls it quits.

I think the expectation for Mizzou at this point should be 10+ wins a season. We're not dependent on great QB play like were during the Brad Smith and Chase Daniel years. Mauk was not good at all for a large portion of this season, and we won 11 games.

Regardless of what Kilo thinks, I have another serious question.

Do you guys think that Pinkel is good enough as a coach to overcome the talent deficit that Missouri will have compared to the other teams listed or do you think Mizzou will start recruiting to the same level?

My expectations are we continue to compete for an SEC championship.

Do I expect to have a better record than:
Georgia - no
Florida - maybe
Tennessee - Maybe
South Carolina - yes

Well, Pinkel has won back to back east championships soooo..............

Will Mizzou recruit with UGA, UT and Florida?
If we keep winning we can. It is going to take time and wins for that to happen.

Gonna assume by "listed" you mean top teams in the country and not teams that come in third in there divsion.

Now that is a good question, CedarVol..

As an X's and O's coach, no, Pinkel is really marginal at best, and he's too old a dog to learn that many new tricks. He won't outcoach that deficiency, and it still seems unlikely the recruiting will ever be good enough to overcome that gap as well.

There is however another aspect to the equation that might come into play, emphasis on MIGHT. Pinkel is blindly loyal to his staff wither they warrant it, see Kuligowski/Ivey/Jones or wither they don't,, see Dave Yost.

For the most part if has paid off for him. Of course having an inner circle of "yes men" can be detrimental but if Pinkel is getting any wiser with age,, and that is another big IF.. he will start delegating more of the planning to his staff.

Specifically he needs for OC Josh Henson and new DC, Barry Odom(a returning MU guy), to start filling in the missing pieces for a gameplan that goes beyond "make fewer mistakes than the other team and win the +/- battle" and that may be the conduit to finally getting past the rut of the nose punch to the face that is the common theme for Gary in these CC games.

Yup, and I expect Mizzou to be fighting for the East title as long as Pinkel is there. The first year was an aberration. With their injuries they looked more like a hospital than a football team. They'll be fine.
