Yeah. A realistic look at this year seemed to suggest a 5-7 to 7-5 season.

3-9 would be a disaster. But I’ll guess we’ll steal one and end up at least within one game of our floor at 4-8.

But he needs to show some signs of life beyond recruiting. I think he might be Odom’s negative. A person known for their offense who won’t give up the coordinator role because of pride.

It does have that feel to it a little bit. From the outside looking in, it seems like the offense has a lot of horizontal/side line to side line plays in it that aren't very successful at this level. I'm not sure if that's just his offense or if he hasn't had much to work with at QB though

Yeah. Oline is much worse than expected this year as well. We’re down two or three guys who were expected to contribute. But running to the boundaries and throwing screen passes isn’t going to be an entire offense when your QB can’t get the ball to a receiver past 10 yards.

Everyone is pissed at him right now after the k-State debacle (rightfully so), but if we’re being realistic he is safe for another year barring a true meltdown season this year (2

Good point on the OL. I didn't realize you were down a few guys already. That's tough. Do you know if he ran a more vertical scheme when he was at App St or if this has always been his style of play? Drink's offense in the last 2 years that we've played has kind of reminded me of Matt Canada's dink and dunk, quick hitter, jet sweep, bubble screen, misdirection style offense without much of a focus on taking the top off and getting vertical. It's not my style of offense tbh. I'm a Steelers fan and it's driven me nuts since we hired him. In both cases, it seems like it works against lower level teams and struggles against upper tier competetion.

I would say this is a pretty accurate assessment of the offense. I figured he was using it due to the lack of high skill players but he's not changed it at all even now that our talent level is up and it's very predictable now and easy for defenses to read. I don't think we had a single positive yard from jet sweeps all game against k state.

Does 7-5 next year take the heat off of him, or do we need to see 8-4/9-3? Say the 7 are all 4 OOC, Vandy, SCAR, and Florida.

If Mizzou fires their coach in Yr 3 then they're screwed. They might be screwed anyway, but if they're firing coaches 3 years in at Mizzou then they definitely are. The only way Mizzou is going to succeed is if they keep stockpiling depth (at a Mizzou rate anyway) and have some continuity. AKA, the Pinkel/Stoops model. They can't do it any other way at Mizzou. If you switch coaches you will lose anyone worth a damn and you're back to square 1 for another 3 yrs minimum.

I think if Horn ends up a bust (or leaves after this year) Drink is toast (but still isn't getting canned this year)...if Horn shows promise and he can patch some holes on the OL in the portal then they'll start to move in the right direction.
