Does Missouri care enough to move on from Drinkwitz this year?

I think it's becoming pretty clear that Drinkwitz, who I do not think is a bad coach necessarily, bit off more than he could chew by taking a HC job in the SEC with such little experience. Just looking at the schedule, it's hard to find a path to bowl eligibility with this team. I'm not familiar with his contract/buyout terms but how likely is it that Missouri moves on from him?

Highly unlikely. Regardless of how bad things are this season, he will get a fourth to see if he can develop his recruits into anything. If he doesn't do well year 4 or if his prize recruits hit the portal this year, that might expedite things.

I think last years recruiting class may have bought some equity & goodwill within the program.

Reading the tea leaves, it seems like most Mizz fans and their AD are open to giving him through the 2023 season to see if he can turn it around.

Yeah, if he doesn't turn things around the seat gets very warm this year, but barring a collapse in recruiting he'll get next year.

They need to jump ship on that guy. I don’t think he’s terrible but I think he’s good for a way smaller school.

Playing in the SEC you need a CEO as head coach. Drink has nowhere near the experience to do that.

Doubtful, Mizzou is used to sucking at sports.

100% on giving him till end of year 4.

His biggest mistakes year 1-2 was A) keeping odoms guys and riding with them, B) not using the portal. He used the portal this year to fix a few problems, but I’d like to have seen more portal players outside of just DL. But it was a step in the right direction. Next year these 4/5 stars will be a little seasoned, and he needs to use portal more. If it doesn’t work, move on. It’s simple.

Everyone is pissed at him right now after the k-State debacle (rightfully so), but if we’re being realistic he is safe for another year barring a true meltdown season this year (2 wins or maybe even 3 might get him fired).

I still believe in Drink but he will only succeed if he swallows his pride and makes changes on the offensive side. Calling out fans doesn’t help his case either. I’m frustrated with him but still in his corner and hope he is the guy that turns it around.

Depends on how he does in sec play.

He has no shot of beating UGA or Tennessee, very little shot at beating Arky or UK.

He absolutely needs to get fired if he loses to Vandy or Florida

And South Carolina is a toss up. Would help if he wins but shouldn’t hurt if he loses unless he gets blown out.

I don't. I didn't donate this year and I'm not donating this year whether he's coaching or not.

I'm surprised at how well he is recruiting.

They need to keep him a while and see if that talent shines.

3 wins would mean 0-8 in the SEC with a loss to Vandy. That would be inexcusable in year 3. Odom may have left the program in bad shape but they were still bowl eligible and won 3 conference games his last year. The cupboard wasn't that bare.

I have a hard time finding the 5th win this year and a harder time finding a 6th. Let's pretend he gets to 5-7 with a win over Vandy and Auburn with a walking dead coach. What does he have to do to stick around in 2023? What are we giving him time for, specifically?

He had a decent class didn't he? Not sure keeping him another season hurts that much unless things just fall off completely this year.

That's fair. Curious to know what Mizzou fans need to see next year to keep him.

Word has been that he is getting approx 5 million, plus he really wanted to stay close to his sisters, so it's not the worst decision ever BUT..... If Mizzou can't get him the ball (which they don't seem to have the ability to do against good competition right now) he will do what he has to do for his NFL hopes I'm sure
