The hot hand fallacy is a phenomenon, previously considered a cognitive social bias, that a person who experiences a successful outcome has a greater chance of success in further attempts. The concept is often applied to sports and skill-based tasks in general and originates from basketball, where a shooter is more likely to score if their previous attempts were successful, i.e. while having "hot hands.”

In this case, a lot of LSU fans think Brian Kelly or whoever coaches at LSU will win a National Championship because their past 3 coaches have won National Championships. By this logic, Butch Davis should have won a National title with Miami since the last 3 coaches did.

Even if they do, you still want the ball in your hottest shooter’s hand

Lol. To be fair I originally had it as “Do LSU fans…” but it sounded to grammatically correct for this website.

Butch Davis most definitely would have won had he not left for the NFL. That’s how Larry Coker got a championship.

Hell, Davis probably wins two titles at a minimum if he would have stayed at UM.

And then Coker, a career assistant, ended up taking UM down the drain.

So, what’s your point again?

You thought employing phrases like "cognitive social bias" was going to disguise your ignorance on this matter didn't you?

fal·la·cy

a mistaken belief, especially one based on unsound argument.

The fact that LSU won two nattys with two men who couldn't hold jobs at Ole Miss and Kansas, means the answer probably lies in the fact that a small state like Louisiana that produce a freakish amount of talent, a fact that Saban knows all too well, can be deduced to being the reason for it's success, thus nullifying any aspect of an "unsound argument" or "fallacy".

Here's a much better example of a hot hand fallacy: The fact that Alabama truly believes that it won't be reduced to taking scraps from Texas and A&M in about two years from now.

To be fair he would have if he hadn't left for the Browns, that team he built was sick nasty. Hell they maybe actually win in 02 if he stayed.
