We should win this year...We have to go through Bama...makes it tough...he still has time considering what Bama has built

Kirby is already 1 game behind Richt at the same stage of his Georgia Career.

That additional 1 loss was against Bama in the N.C. game last year. Richt never played for one. Richt didn’t have 3 #1 SEC east recruiting classes in a row either. Kirby has blanked the east 2 years in a row. If I remember correctly Richt never swept the east. I appreciate Mark Richt, but we all see what Kirby is building. We will give him time to over take Alabama. Besides Saban is going to retire someday. I personally feel Kirby gets to beat him for a championship before Saban retires unless he retires after this years N.C.

He'll get a mulligan until Saban retires. Nobody has been beating Bama since he's been arived except for a few fluke games when the other team had a freakish quarterback.

At best he will have equal talent as Saban. Are bulldog fans really holding Smart to this standard? Is Smart being perceived by them as the better coach?

JK, I read most of and got the point. Take Saban out of the equation and UGA would likely have three NCs this century. Kirby’s not perfect, but with more experience he can be every bit as good as Saban. I just hope Kirby beats him before he retires.

Depends if he calls another fake punt that fails.

i would love for you to come defend this nonsense but you of course won’t. You know how ignorant it is and still said it.

Your point? SEC rushing leaders all time: #2 Nick Chubb 4,769 yds #17 Sony Michel 3,613 yds (total 8382 yards)

Lol, no you stfu. If these two men aren't all time SEC greats then Alabama has never had a RB that is an SEC all time great, since the first Alabama RB comes in at #18. LofrickingL.

If we win the next game, he surpasses Richt's win total in years 2 and 3, and in much more impressive fashion.

No, I have a long memory. If you are going to make great claims, then you can't be upset when someone else makes great claims too...

It's pretty easy to defend

Richt
2001 8-4
2002 13-1 SEC Champs Georgia was ranked #4 and if their was a CFP they would have received the invite
2003 10-3 SEC runner up 2 Loses were to LSU
Richt 32-7 1 SEC Championship

Smart
2016 8-5
2017 13-2 If it was the same system as 2002 Georgia would not have made the playoff they were ranked #3 BCS game would have been Clemson vs OSU
2018 11-2 SEC Runner up

Smart 32-9 1 SEC Championship

Very Very Similar results. Kirby has 2 more losses

No one cares about year 1, the mulligan year totally dependent upon the previous coaches roster. Instead, lets focus on years 2 and 3:

Richt: 24-4
Smart: 24-4

Looks similar on the surface, but lets dig deeper and look at point differential for both seasons:

Richt: +406 = 14.50 per game
Smart: +553 = 19.75 per game

This shows that Kirby has been clearly better than one of the best coaches of the early-00's SEC, which is quite the compliment.

He obviously isn't gonna get fired if he doesn't, but I'd say we should win it all next year. Will be the first time the addition of experience plus talent will be even or better than Alabama.

You are right. But what matters is the next ten years.

Kirby has the recruiting, player development, and facilities. What he lacks he may not ever have. Saban's game day analysis and critical thinking. It was a close game 2 years in a row because of poor Bama QB play. Imo, this year because Tua was hurt early. But, Saban was smart enough to make the right adjustments to win in the end. Georgia may not get ahead like that again. Kirby is a good coach but he's not Saban. During Saban's era he never lost a game like Kirby did to LSU (20 pts) and he would never have done a fake on the 4th&11 play.

Kirby will be here as long as he has us playing in SECC games and a shot at the playoff on a regular basis. He would have to have a 2-3 year run of 7-5 to 9-3 type seasons to even get on a warm list.

Bama lost almost their entire defense to the NFL.

New OC
New RB coach
New QB coach
New DC
New DL coach
New DB coach
New LBer coach

see how it works?

Kirby is a third year coach. Saban was not what he is now, not even close to it, in year 3. You really had the better team on paper in both of our games. Saban and staff made some adjustments, but Smart had you figured out going in on both occasions. "You may not get ahead like that again"? That was the second time it's happened in two meetings. And having a much better than your normal (even for you) backup QB is the reason you won the games.
