Does every fanbase think "mobile quarterbacks traditionally give us the most trouble?"

Wondering at this point if it's just a useless sports cliche.
I think back to 2020. Kyle Trask and Mac Jones both ripped Georgia a new one, but Georgia's defense handled every mobile quarterback they played.
Also, how many college quarterbacks these days aren't "mobile" and does the SEC have any this season other than ol' George?

Are you only referring to this season? Asking for Ole Miss fans everywhere

The only mobile QB we saw that year was Bo Nix, who shite his pants every time he saw Georgia.

depends on what you mean by mobile. Guys who are legit running threats, there really are only a handful in the SEC this year. Guys who can scramble around a little bit if necessary, yeah I'd say most SEC QBs fit that bill. The guys that give coaches more trouble (in the context you're talking about) are those where running is one of the biggest parts of their game. But at the end of the day, those guys are really only hard to defend for most defenses if they are also a threat to beat you through the air too. That's why you've seen Marcel Reed struggle so much. Teams don't respect his ability to throw the football.

I think that A.J. McCarron never got enough credit. The game manager label seemed to follow him everywhere he went, but he was a hell of a college quarterback. Mobile quarterback that gave teams trouble.

McCarron got plenty of kudos. Let it go. It’s over. Nobody listen to techno

I think mobile QBs are just frustrating for your team to go against, so the plays where they run out of what would be a sack and get a first down sticks out more than seeing more of a pocket passer making what could be an NFL level throw for a first down.
I do think some teams legitimately struggle with running QBs, but at the same time it is extremely overused.

This is true when Blake Baker is the DC. Great DC but he has struggled to stop QBs who can run his entire time at LSU

Yes. I get irrationally mad when LSU fans trash Baker for this.
Mobile QB's are tough for any defense to defend when they are on that day.

That makes a lot of sense and is a good theory.
A quarterback hitting his fourth read for an 8 yard gain leaves way less of a lasting impression than a quarterback shaking off a sack and juking a linebacker for an 8 yard gain.

Saban had a good comment on it where he acknowledged that because of his defense, they always had trouble with mobile quarterbacks. Since that is also Kirby‘s defense, it makes sense if Georgia has the same problem. I mean basically if you only run man, the quarterback just has to make one person miss (and college blitzers tend to miss) and then head down field if he has the legs. Saban explain the nuance of his CBs and safety switching depending on the route and then the safety’s back is turned so he can’t account for the QB.
That was one big switch Aranda accomplished in 2019 where he was implementing the zone, but our defense wasn’t good until we actually learned how to do it. And we needed it for teams like Bama and Clemson.
