simply by putting the word in quotes, he was referring to HRV use of it, which is Auburn, as in the university.
Using the quotes for the color was not a correct usage and capitalizing even more so

The only way that you would cap auburn is if is the first word in a sentence.

I think anything linked to the word "Alabama" sends a negative image of the University from a National standpoint. This is based on a historical image and not sports. I think that is why Auburn change the name in the late 50s.

NYC... are you saying that when one puts a word in quotes at the beginning of a sentence it is incorrect to capitalize it? Gracious me, bless your wittle Auburn educated heart.

Does this sentence look correct to you?

“education” and “Auburn” are mutually exclusive terms.

You put the word in quotes, it is not supposed to be capitalized if you were referring to a color. If you hadn't used quotes, you would be correct

It's still the first letter of the sentence, so it needs to be capitalized. I'm not sure what you're trying to argue here but you probably need to brush up on your English. Living too long in NYC can do that to a person. I've lived there myself and can confirm this.

I am saying your use of it all together was incorrect. You put the word in quotes. HRV use of the word was for the university, so it is not a color.

If you had you written.

quote:

Auburn is a color

you would be correct

So yes gracious you...
