The only fake rivalry is the Iron Bowl.
You mean the one that they didn't play for years because the fans were so crazy that they were worried something bad would happen? That's probably the only thing in the conference that is an actual rivalry.

I have lived in Nashville since I was a child. My fiancé went to Bearden, in Knoxville. My soon to be in laws are all UT grads/fans. Im constantly surrounded by UT people. You don't hear talk about TSIO around thanksgiving dinner like you would with other rivalries.

I'm 27. We all gamble on sports. Sorry I have friends? It's actually nice staying in touch.

I swear at least one a-hole posts a thread leading up to the TSIO game complaining that this is not a rivalry. Who gives a crap what you think. I mean Bama fans and UT fans have threads dedicated to there hatred of each. I hate bama as much as I hate the Jort wearing Gators. So leave it alone.

Based on your username, I've no doubt you consider it an actual rivalry.

as much so UF is your biggest rival correct?
do you hate them "as much" as UGA?

I'm in a CFB group text thing on GroupMe and at least half the guys on there are Vol fans. Never do I hear shite about this rivalry. It's always about UF. I've never seen anyone outside of this board even refer to it as "TSIO".
Back in the 90s, I used to post on rec.sport.football.college and the topic came up every year.
The "I Hate Tennessee" thread got posted each and every year like clockwork.

Your list of real rivalries is a joke
watch a UGA and UF game. The hate permeates off the field.

I do. UF and Bama are our biggest rivals and they always will be.

I wish it were still as competitive. I've pulled for the Vols in this game every year for a long time. They are due for an upset and will play with nothing to lose.

larger or smaller than those here that remember UT being relevant?

See, there's the thing, a loss to Alabama just doesn't hurt as much as a loss to UF for one primary reason, UT and UF are in the same division. They are truly rivals in the sense that they are competing for the same prize, a division championship. That's not the case with Alabama and Tennessee anymore - and their rivalry has suffered since.

TSIO is the most talked-about rivalry on this board. We don't even have as many IB threads.
Just wait until gameday, it will be like no one else is even playing as everyone here fixates on the game on CBS.

I don't mind UGA. Love beating them but don't consider it a huge rivalry.

not nearly as forced as the lsu - aggie rivalry.

Well considering LSU isn't a&ms rival...

You weren't around for the Phil Fulmer / Roy Adams / Logan Young mess. There was a time when the two fanbases despised each other more than their traditional rivals of Auburn and Florida by a pretty significant margin.
The main reason it lacks the hate at the moment is because Alabama has been on a tear in respect to the rivalry. That can disrupt a lot of rivalry hatred on at least one side. Honestly, Texas didn't consider Texas A&M much of a rival compared to Oklahoma due to the one-sided nature of the rivalry.
