They're closer to being a top 10 job than Tenn. why in the frick do think TN is?!
Tennessee has more history and tradition
They are #1 in their state
Obviously AU is on better footing now than UT, but if you're just talking about what is the better job, head coach at AU or head coach at UT, it's tennessee.

It is definitely a Top 15 job. One could reasonably argue both for and against it being in the Top 10.

What's to funny? Are you saying Alabama is a hotbed of high school talent? That's news to me. At absolute BEST it's behind CA, TX, GA, FL, OH, and LA. Best case scenario.
This. GA and FL talent are supporting a lot of really good programs. SC and Clemson wouldn't survive without the talent in Atlanta (SC) and Miami (Clem).
Bama is nowhere close.

They're doing pretty well.
Lot of talent in Cali, also.
Yes, they are doing well. That's irrelevant.
We're talking about the job. Focus on the job. What does a coach have to do at Oregon to keep the program successful?

Your delusions that "have virtually no in state recruiting." but doesnt really even matter because your false point doesnt really have anything to do with the topic

I think it's top 10-ish. There are probably 8-12 coaching jobs that are fairly close to each other.

Ummm it has quite a great deal to do with the topic, it's one of the reasons AU isn't higher.
So tell me, where is AU out of 50 when it comes to high school talent? Apparently I'm delusional, so set me straight.
If you want to dive into semantics, I guess I could say "they have virtually no in state recruiting compared to other schools higher on the list than them".
But the point remains, the state of Alabama is average as grits when it comes to HS talent.

Ohio? Cali? No, just no. Not the same type talent coming from those states. The others have more in state talent than Alabama , I agree. However, Bama holds it own when looking at high school blue chip recruits.

Did I say that was the ONLY criteria? No. It is one of many.
UT is a top 10ish program of all time, and undisputed as the 2nd best SEC program historically. They also aren't little brother in their state.
ETA: And quit making me stick up for tennessee.

1. Texas
2. tOSU
3. USCw
4. Alabama
5. Florida
6. Michigan
7. Georgia
8. LSU
9. Auburn
10. Oklahoma
Tennessee used to be. Notre Dame should probably be on the list but oh well. Florida St and Miami just miss, but FSU> Miami. Texas A&M and OK St are about the same level. Oregon is higher up. Washington isn't a bad choice but not near the top 10. Penn St would be on the list..but yeah..not anymore.
eta: I would think Mizzou and Clemson are respectable jobs as well. Higher than Washington for sure. Not really sure why I mentioned them now that I think about it

According to the recruiting sites it(alabama) consistently ranks tin the top 10 and closer to top 5. But I guess that is considered virtually no recruits
