Look at it this way. Nick Saban is at a program where Gene Stallings (coach with a losing record) came to Alabama and won a national title and almost won a 2nd. Mike Dubose won an SEC championship at Bama, Shula had a 10-2 year at Bama. You don't think Nick Saban can win there??? Alabama has arguably the best college coach in the country calling all the shots now.

I almost jumped right into this same pile of crap you're in to help carry you out by backing your argument up until I realized the greater point here. Some LSU fans can only rationalize what IS going on by denying it out right. They only want us to remember out last 10 years... our darkest age... In that 10 years we have an SEC title and a 10-2 cotton bowl win... among other notable accomplishments while under recruiting sanctions... BOWL bans... Etc.

Bottom line? Dont entangle yourself with the bottom feeders that want to dice up your program in some meaningless angle using bs rhetoric or tripe. in the meantime, we gotta focus as a fanbase about each next game. Win or lose we have a job to stay positive and support the good guys to the big one!

Roll Tide. Go SEC.

talk to folks like this guy. there -are- real deal fans out there that have the balls to accept who and what their team is... and more interestingly, they can also accept who their rivals truly are.

you can tell when you're talking to one because respect tends to be a theme.

m2pro you are correct. Most people don't want to accept something like this. SEC fans just need to accept that Alabama is back and has one of the very best coaches out there running the show. It is your job to try and keep up with Alabama now, if you can.

Just like most Bama fans don't want to accept that talk about "tradition" and the last 50 years or whatever, while "editing" out the more troubling aspects of that history, in today's college football doesn't mean as much as it used to, especially when you haven't won an SEC championship yet, much less a National Championship.

I am a college football fan - I honor and respect (and envy) the hell out of Bama's past. However, I'm also a Nick Saban fan - the man who says all that matters is the next game, not what you did last year, even last game, much less 50 ago. I'm not "denying" anything about Bama. I'm just saying that your claim that the reason for Saban's amazing success at Bama the last TWO seasons (and admittedly the shine was taken off last season somewhat because of the 2 losses at the end) is because of Bama's "tradition" is not accurate.

lsu fan. Tradition does not equal 10 years in anything and football is no different. Alabama has won more games, bowl games and national championships than any other team conference and more national championships than other team in the country for that matter, that's tradition.

LINK

According to these guys we are #9 in the history of college football. You cant do that with a "few good years" . So we don't feel too bad, despite your hackish need to minimize our on-field history.

By the way, you have not won an SEC championship this century. I'm quite sure you haven't won a BCS bowl yet either. Meanwhile LSU has three SEC championships in recent years and two BCS national championships. You will be our equal, like UF is our equal, when you get your second.

Now you might be able to puff up your chest with tales of pre 1980-greatness, but to really have any memory of Alabama dominance you would have to be about 40 years old. Whereas any kid on the street can tell you about LSU, Texas, UF, USC etc.

What you have accomplished is YOU HAVE BEEN AMONG THE BEST HALF DOZEN NON_CHAMPIONSHIP TEAMS IN AMERICA THE LAST TWO YEARS. Thats great. Roll Tide, Yellow hammer and all that bravado.

Good luck with the SEC championship game. I figure Nick is already a year BEHIND schedule with the SEC championship so I hope you Gumps will be patient with him.

Saban is at the flagship program of the SEC. There is no denying, changing or spinning that fact. At the end of the day you have to live with it and move on.

since your sig quote includes being a professional buzz killer, hopefully you'll understand that there really no effect you'll have on a Bama fan no matter how you try to slice it.

Heh, keep up that die hard positive nature of a buzz killer :-)

You also have to include the bad and the ugly with Alabama tradition. A dark history of payoffs, probation and scandal. Six legit titles. Six Golden Flake championships. Hell, LSU could claim three more using the same criteria that Bama uses. Your championships have come with a hefty price tag. LSU's championships and tradition come with a clear conscience.

I regret you've turned this into a rip on LSU fans. Please re-read my original post. I just think you're over-stating your case about "tradition" being the cause of Saban's success at Bama now. I've acknowledged both Saban's success & the Bama past; I think you should at least acknowledge that that past has to include EVERYTHING, strip clubs included.

See this is where your argument totally breaks down. No you're not - you haven't won an SEC or National Championship yet. You've got some catching up to do. Sorry, but facts is facts.

LMFAO, no you don't. You hope we get inpatient as hell if we don't win either the SEC or MNC and run him off, because, like most LSU fans, you are afraid that Miles might not beat him again.

There is no "FLAGSHIP" school in the SEC.
It's a laughable concept.
It's a vanity that exists in your head.
It's a religious orthodoxy for you that is based on faith alone and learned in a rigid Gump Madrassa.
LSU has every advantage Bama does and UF has more than either.
You should get out of the state more.

I think Saban's success has to do with both his own abilities and where he is at. Like I said before already worse coaches than him have won at Alabama. He is just going to win a lot more than they did.
