BOB is arse compared to the likes of Sark, Kiffin, and I’ll even throw in Daboll and Nuss

This from the guy that thinks he knows NFL QB play better than Bill Belichick

Nick Saban will answer the Doug Marrone, BoB, and Pete deal in about 5-6 weeks.
JMO but Doug will be asked to look around. The other two stay unless they get offers that are much better than they have at Bama.
We'll see.

This coming from a poster who tries starting a "look at me post" and when people counter that with facts, he does his "look there is Elvis" response.
Bill knows defense and how not to let a weak armed QB ruin it for him.

I am on the fence with Marrone too. Agree Gold and Bob only leave for HC jobs

Why do Bammers want him fired then?
Because he cannot figure out what to do when blitzed

I’m back on forth on him still. The running game is bad at times. The redzone offense has issues. And I think he needs to cut his buddy Marrone lose at OL coach.

They dont take into consideration the talent that was lost from 2020, the sub par OL he had to scheme around or the injuries that took place this season.
Now do Alabama fans on Golding…
He is a long way from my fav DC that has been at UA, but he has started slow every season at UA and seems to turn it on in nov and the playoffs

Already addressed this (at least from my perspective) on the first page.
Posted this earlier in the season about Golding, FWIW:
quote:
Because of recent trends offensively in college football, Saban wanted to move to a 4-2-5, or more likely a 3-3-5 base defense.
Pete Golding was/is highly regarded for that scheme, and was brought in to help the long-term transition.
As with anything of this magnitude, it will and has taken time to bring in the right players to fit, and to adjust in practice, in-game, etc.
We should be getting close to that point. Or perhaps it will never work. Who knows.

All of those OC's had better OL's to work with.
All except Nuss had better more depth and talent at WR and RB too

As others in this thread have already pointed out, BoB has been limited in some ways by the horrific OL we have trotted out on occasion. However, being as he is the OC, I can't just give him a free pass on that. The OL falls under his jurisdiction too.
My main issue with O'Brien is that it feels like he scripts the entire game ahead of time and then does not deviate from that script, no matter what the defense is doing. Opposing coaches (at least the ones not named Kirby Smart) have figured out by now that the best way to slow down our offense is to blitz the hell out of Young on every play. Of course, the best way to fight the blitz is by calling screens and draws and/or by having hot routes that your QB can check to if he sees the blitz is coming. We do literally none of those things. I am pretty sure we haven't run a single screen pass or draw all year. We just keep trying to run the same plays that we always run. It is infuriating to watch at times.
So yes, BoB is going to have a Heisman winner this year. The offense has put up tons of points and yards. Give Young, Williams and co. time and they will score all over you. However, it is also clear that he can be outfoxed, and relatively easily at that. His in-game adjustments are arse. His offense has been almost completely shut down twice this year, by teams that really had no business being on the same field as us. That is on him.
Basically he is the Pete Golding of offensive coordinators. Usually his scheme works fairly well, but occasionally there are games where his side of the ball looks completely lost.

aTm, AU, FLA,ARK, LSU were all difficult games because our OL couldn't cut the mustard. Then on the last drive vs AU and the GA game our OL gets it together and voila! Instant offense! On top of that, he abandoned the running game on the goal line and cost us points when the BRob had put in the work to get us down there!
He's hot and cold and we need someone who can keep the heat up every game!
