Auburn was definitely the most proven. They beat several top 10 teams that year. Georgia was 10-2 and in the top 5 I believe and Auburn dominated that game. I remember before the game Herbstreit said that if AU beat UGA then he'd move them above OU on his ballot, but he never did. It seemed like he said that several weeks in a row.

I think if the coaches were to vote on it like before the BCS then they would vote Auburn as the champs, if only for the respect they now have for the strength of the SEC.

OU and AU should both be able to claim it now.

There was only 2 teams that had the right to win the 2004 BCS title- OU and USC. If it isn't USC it has to be OU.

It's like the lesser of 2 evils...

Take it from one of the bigger cheatin bastards and try to determine who gets it between two smaller cheatin bastards...

Looks like Utah is the only answer

I wish AU would have gotten to play for it. They were the best team in 04 imo. If they were going to award it (they won't) it should be to AU.

I don't have a problem with it.

They won't.

Yes, I genuinely do.

Auburn had more wins over ranked teams than SCAL to begin with.

Auburn would have beat either one of them. You weren't stopping Cadillac and Ronnie.

as much as i hate to say it i have never seen such a good Georgia team take such a thorough beating. AU didn't blow them out of the water but UGA was thoroughly dominated the entire game. 2003 LSU was bad but 2004 Georgia was far better and AU stopped them cold.

AU deserves the title but i am against them winning it retroactively. 2004 will have no champion but everyone will know USC was the best in the land.

yea, dunno if white was getting carries in 2003 but reggie bush and lendale white were just as if not more potent a duo than cadillac and ronnie

It would have been a better game if they had played auburn, but usc was just ON that game.

I think you have the only right way to handle this situation, but if only one has to be voted NC's then my vote is for AU and give Tubby his bonus for coaching the NC team. Does anyone think OU could beat an SEC team in the NCG. The best part of this vote is we have future NCG to judge which conference produces the best team in NCG's.

i can't recall many games where a team was so thoroughly dominant. it was like watching the steelers decimate a JV team. just utter arse kickage.
