You're correct in that it is difficult to hide a large sum. However, every now & then a clerk at a courthouse or HR person at a company gets popped for siphoning off a hundred grand or so. When it happens everyone sits around wondering how they got away with it for so long..
In the end, if something is rotten in Opelika, it will come out. People are stupid creatures & they slip up or run their mouth. I feel pretty confident that we'll know either way at some point.

The thing about clerks siphoning off a hundred grand or so and no one knows how they did it until they get caught is different because they don't just take a couple hundred grand all at once. They usually take a little here and there over the course of time and eventually they get popped. When you talk about paying a player or his family 6 figures, I would think payments would come in large sums like a couple payments of 50 or 60k.
A school could come up with a couple hundred grand from a collection of many different sources and it wouldn't raise any red flags. The problem of hiding it is always gonna be on the receiving end.
Like you said if something is rotten eventually it will come out. I gotta stop now before I get sucked into the tin foil lunacy.

I think we all have visions of A. Anderson/Enron accounting, when it is probably nothing more than bills changing hands. Hell, a La. Senator kept his on ice.

Mayors in Chicago, Gov. & Senators in La., Utility traders in Tx & Goldman Sachs are at a different level.
We REC members are playing triple A ball.

Don't forget Insurance Commissioners. The last 4 or 5 have gone to prison.

I think it would be fun to be a bored rich booster for a few days and just go on a 5 star recruit shopping spree just for the hell of it. Gotta do something while the Gulf Stream is getting a wash and wax job.

Auburn ramped their shite up to a level that can not be ignored. And by using street agents like Sean Nelson & Walt Williams to steer recruits to AU it just heats up the spot light on their recruiting practices.
Please keep banging your head till it explodes. There is no proof of anything about Auburn ramping up anything. Rumors and innuendos doesn't make any of it true. Keep trying though. Oh and keep banging your head against something like a tree shredder.

That is all so believe it or not but Auburn is finished.
BamaScoop,
First, I've heard about the ATM cards being used well before ATPB was started from people inside the coaching circle. Not that you need me to validate your post.
My challenge to you or anyone who gets "inside" info is, ask questions about a timeline. What's the hold up? If some of these people know as much as they claim, surely they have an idea of when it's all coming down or why it hasn't already.

I can only tell you what the guy told me and he said that football and Cam Newton will be an afterthought in all of what is going to happen at Auburn. That would lead me to believe that they are still gathering evidence.
Remember what that Blue tick hound guy use to say all the time about pulling one thread and it leads to another. I think when they pulled the thread it unravelled the entire piece of cloth.
He said Colonial Bank was involved but the Tiger Unlimited Foundation is the focus of the investigation.

As much as I would like to belive it, the folks in Auburn do not appear to be worried... So not sure who you are talking to, but shutting down the program is not even a possibility. ATM cards to a closed bank do not make a lot of sense to me, so I do not see how that angle would work. Using an ATM is NOT against the law, so you have to prove where the money came from. Auburn is very good at what they do, so far the ATPB is hoping there is something on the McGregor tapes, but so far we have to wait.
TUF is the fund raising arm, similar to Tide Pride. That is a 501-3-c and is subject to IRS requirements, that would NOT be a good place to funnel money.
Your reading too much ATPB... When Auburn gets in trouble it will be over street agents like Nelson.

Gotta agree with you, if any thing gets AU in trouble it's more than likely to be something like a street agent. There are hundreds of millions of dollars at stake at universities like AU, so I just have a real hard time believing that a few people would risk the whole university by concocting a giant scheme to buy a few football players.
I very seriously doubt anyone that high up at AU is telling anyone that they wouldn't trust with their life,(someone that isn't gonna go post on a message board what they were told)that AU is finished.

Edwin Edwards scoffs at all of those as small time
This is a guy who gambled and lost a million dollars in vegas once.... the feds were all excited because they expected him to pay for it with a check (and supposedly when you write a check over X amount they can audit you without other cause)... slick son of a bitch shows up with briefcases to pay the million in cash
When they finally arrested him for good around ten years ago they inventoried all of his major possessions in his house. Which included around 400k. When asked about that cash Edwards responded that was just his "walking around money"
ETA... well scoffs at the first two anyway

Details please.
Because paying Eric Ramsey $500 when he comes to a coach begging for money because he and his wife can't feed his baby is hardly buying football players, imo. Was it illegal for the coach to give him money? Yes. But it wasn't like he was some blue chip kid that everyone wanted. He had 1 div one offer and that was from Auburn.

He was told that they have video of players using Colonial Bank ATM cards.
A fellow I work with is good friends with an Auburn scholarship football player. He tells me that scholarship players that live off campus are given an ATM card to withdraw a set amount each month that is in accordance with NCAA rules. He says it is completely legal.

Illinois and Louisiana do it better than anyone else. That, and maybe Birmingham politicians.

Its called a monthly stipend and is completely legal and a widespread practice.
