15 Texas A&M 933.75
21 Georgia 808.00
22 South Carolina 805.75
23 Arkansas 803.00

Three of those top half, once again, are expansion teams.

Here's to those three especially. They continue to climb the ladder and take advantage of what this conference offers on a yearly basis.

That's how you make the most of opportunities.

I get it, but if #21 is your worst finish in 20+ years, that ain't chopped liver.

Yes and no... I take pretty great offense at a few of his remarks from a recent interview. It just confirms what most think about him already:
quote:

“I [recently] got with [UGA sports information director Claude Felton], and I said, ‘how many times did we finish second or runner-up in the country?’ … We found out since 2011 we’ve finished runner-up 16 times,” McGarity said. “If half of those come true, or a third of them come true, then we’d stack a lot more NCAA championships. You can look at it both ways: It could’ve been a little bit better, could’ve been a lot better with a few more national championships, but I would say we did okay. There’s tremendous room for growth here.”

UGA fans don’t need to be reminded of the close calls — especially in football. Those near misses live to haunt a fan base starved for the ultimate success. Yet McGarity remains undaunted, and optimistic the best for UGA is yet to come.

I’m to the point where I want to have 21 sports that are all challenging for national championships,” McGarity said. “It hasn’t happened yet, but there’s always a chance that will happen.”

This September will be officially a full decade as the Athletic Director for UGA. It has taken him 10 years to get to the point where he'd LIKE TO have 21 sports challenging for a national championship... WTF was he hoping for the previous decade?

Also... how are we going to make that happen? Oh... there's not a plan... "but there's always a chance".

The guy is clueless. He's had no strategic plan/approach for how to take UGA athletics forward, and it shows. This result is just the culmination of his continued presence and failure to define a strategic direction as a leader.

Its cool, I really do wish VU was less academic and more sports so they could add

M soccer
Volleyball
Gymnastics
Softball

Would like to see them add...
Rowing (as they are on a river) and 1 more so it could be an SECsport
Equestrian (lots of hunter jumper folks already around Nashville)
Cricket
Croquet
Sand volleyball

I dont get too excited about the rankings, but do like to see a consistent top 10 from the program.

Florida is in that group with Texas, Stanford, ND and Michigan... well rounded athletics combined with great academics and not selling themselves to the devil.

Great finish by UF.

NCAA Sponsored sports included in NACDA LearFeild Directors cup 19 men, 21 for Women. NACDA takes 10 best mens and 10 best womens finishes for cup standings.

Stanford offers 30 NCAA Varsity sports, 16 for women, 14 for men.

UF offers 19 NCAA Varsity sports, 11 for women , 8 for men.

It's going to be hard to beat Stanford they way the Learfeild cup is structured. Would love to see you guys do it though.

Yeah we had their arse in 2013 and had strong teams set up in the Spring and everyone took a nosedive in the post season (earlier than they should have) and we finished just behind them.

1 Stanford 1261.25
2 Florida 1244.75

16.5 points

I am such an all-sports nut, I think I would be slightly depressed if we ever beat them. Like, nothing to strive for now.

I think it blows goats when you have sports that are not played by at least 4 of the 5 P5's.

I think the PAC gets lots of points for M and W water polo

McGarrity is our response to agent Muschamp. He is the Manchurian candidate.

It's a great sport -- swimmers and water polo players are good students. All the SEC schools should play.

It is a great (and rough) sport. My brother and sister were both swimmers and also played water polo in high school.

#44 is pretty good for State. I think we used to finish around #100. We'd finish even better if the point totals were divided by the number of participating sports.
