There are a lot of parallels between Nebraska in '95 and Bama today. NU thought they would make Texas their bitch in the Big 12. Worked out great for them.

Nebraska finished in the Top 10 5 of the first 6 seasons they were in the Big XII. They finished in the Top 25 7 of the first 8 seasons they were in the Big XII.

Nebraska started sucking when they fired Frank Solich and hired Bill Callahan, not because Texas wrestled away control of their new league from them.

Updyke was born in Texas

Incorrect, he was born and raised in Milton, FL which might have more sidewalk gumps per capita than most places outside of AL. Did move to TX and was a state trooper there.

Bama has also recognized that a strong conference is good for everyone.

Bama has never been afraid of competition. See '78 season schedule.

NU relied on the State of Texas for a lot of their players. NU does not have a recruiting area around their state.

Bama can get 4-5 star players in a radius of about 500 miles around T'town. Alabama sits between several states with top recruits (Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Louisiana)

As far as Nebraska and Alabama, there is no comparison.

The difference between Alabama and Texas when it comes to college football is that Alabama has been way better than Texas at College Football.

One has sidewalk fans, the other has T-shirt fans.

I don't know about that. If anyone is comparing your team to mid-90s Nebraska, you should probably just take it as a compliment.
