Bill Walsh College Football '95 for Sega Genesis.
Was the 2nd game in what would become the EA Sports NCAA Football franchise.
And when you had players on the team what were listed as "WR #84" whose attributes were remarkably similar to a Wide Receiver, #84 on a given team, the players were being screwed. EA, the NCAA, and CLC could have come to an out of court agreement where the players got a cut (maybe a few hundred bucks each and a copy of the game on the platform of their choosing) and the old system would still be intact.

Pretty sure it originated in California by some liberal types that hate football, and it may kill the sport.
Think about it.

It was a Colorado WR that had to give up a sunglasses sponsorship that he had as an Olympic skier and sit a year that started the discussion. Then some PAC12 gymnastics girls were not allowed to monetize their social media thirst traps. Then the video game fiasco pushed it to the forefront.

That was the biggest load of crap that the Olympic Skier couldn't get sponsored because he played football.

Before that.
Case in point: Jeremy Bloom being told he would lose his eligibility if he took endorsements as an Olympic Skier.

2017: UCF kicker who lost eligibility because of a monetized YouTube channel as well

You kids and your fancy video games. This was my first football "video" game.
I guess those were technically my first video games if we are going to count them.
3 lane football.
Although, I don't think I ever actually played a real "game" on the Electric. I never got it working well enough for that kind of thing.

It’s crazy that guys like Jim Tressel wouldn’t have been fired if NIL was legal. I always thought he got screwed.

It was a small price to pay so Alabama, Georgia and Ohio State could keep paying players and stocking 5* talent.
Saban decided the sacrifice was worth it.
Don't worry, though. He's gonna fix football now.

You are correct. They didn’t even use his name.

In July 2009, Ed O'Bannon, a former basketball player for UCLA who was a starter on their 1995 national championship team and the NCAA Tournament Most Outstanding Player that year, filed a lawsuit against the NCAA and the Collegiate Licensing Company, alleging violations of the Sherman Antitrust Act and of actions that deprived him of his right of publicity.[9] He agreed to be the lead plaintiff after seeing his likeness from the 1995 championship team used in the EA Sports title NCAA Basketball 09 without his permission.[10][11] The game featured an unnamed UCLA player who played O'Bannon's power forward position, while also matching his height, weight, bald head, skin tone, No. 31 jersey, and left-handed shot.[12]

Hello new member AulderMagee! How has your first week been? As a brand new member of this message board I hope everyone has been friendly to you. Even though you only have thirty posts under your belt, you seem to be catching on. Already going around telling people they are melting.
I am guessing you and rileygreene know each other. There are a lot of Tennessee posters here that seem to be an awful lot like you. I am sure you will fit right in with them.
