After losing to Jerry Stovall coached LSU in 1982, Bryant announced on Monday morning that he was retiring at the end of the season. His last game was a cold weather Liberty Bowl win over Illinois. A few months later, he died of a heart attack
The score of that LSU game was 20 - 10...
True story - BEFORE he died, there was a joke circulating that went:
"Did you hear that Bear Bryant died?"
("NO! Really?")
"Yep... he woke up this morning, asked his wife "what time is it?", and she told him "20 to 10" and he had a heart attack...."
Then he had a REAL heart attack and died, and ruined the joke...

After the loss to L.S.U., however, Bryant seemed especially disappointed. He praised Stovall and called him the better coach. He said he was going to tell the Alabama University president, Joab Thomas, to review the football program, starting at the top. Bryant, who is 69 years old and is college football's career leader in victories, implied he was ready to step down as coach if necessary.

Coach Bryant retired after the season was over and died 6 weeks later.
ETS: and he was 17-4 against LSU I think.
…and he lost one time in baton Rouge in 24 years at Alabama. Tiger Stadium was his practice field.
