from 1966-2002 the two teams played annually, often alternating home and home games. I guess I never really paid any attention, but we had a lil rivalry game going with Ole Miss.

IIRC from 1992 expansion to 2002 SEC teams used to have (2) permanent cross divisional opponents. Ours were Georgia and Vanderbilt

Ole Miss is #7 in UGA's most-played teams. The record is 33-12-1 in UGA's favor.

apparently not lol

I wouldn't call the game a "rivalry" in practically any sense of the word, but yeah they were our 2nd permanent opponent once the league created divisions. No clue why it was them.

Yeah it would have made more sense for OM to have Tennessee as the second permanent east opponent. We played each other much more back in the day and was a pseudo rivalry of sorts

Didn’t realize that.

Disappointed that CBS passed on this game for the 2:30 slot. Was looking forward to watching it prior to attending the LSU-UF game in the evening

Oxford, MS is closer to being an SEC East school than Columbia, MO. I'd rather play OM each year.

UGA and Athens are just a larger version of Ole Miss and Oxford. Wish we played more often. Loved when you guys came to Oxford when I was in school.

Do what? You can’t compare Athens to Oxford at all. Outside the Square the City of Oxford is strip malls and nothing.

Shouldn’t you be sitting at the kiddie table Pig? Go away, the adults are talking. Your chicken tenders and fries will be ready and brought to your table when the turkey is done.

Remember lots of UGA legends playing in Oxford over the years .
Garrison Hearst , Eric Zeire, Champ Bailey, Quincy Carter, Hines Ward, Terrell Davis.

The players I remember having monster games against us are TE Randy MCMichael, , RB Jasper Sanks and WR Terrance Edwards. They always seemed to score TDs against us. For a while there Richt’s teams beat the absolute shite out of Cufcliffe’s Rebel teams.
