They were very effective last night in shutting down the things were normally have success with. Fortunately, most of the teams we play won't have the athletes to pull an effort like that off.

Auburn has similar talent on the d line and I am sure their coaches were taking notes. Fortunately, we have Vandy's offensive scheme used against them yesterday to copy.

No.

Kiffin's stubborn arse play calling was horrendous.

The inconsistency in the UA passing game so far this year made this plan apparent to even the average football fan.

LSU is the most talented D Bama will face playoffs included. I would be shocked if anyone else contains them that much, but using that plan maybe a team with an actual Offense may give them a game.

Kiffin is scheming around an inconsistent passing game.

By not running straight at the weakness of the defense?

He called a terrible fricking game last night. We didn't need to pass. Running between the tackles was working every time we did it. We just didn't do it enough.

No. Running between the tackles was not working every time.

If LSU had even a decent offense you'd have seen all too well how much we needed the pass. Auburn (spit) has a good defense, and a decent offense.

Yep. Especially in the first half.

You don't have a passing game near as good as vandy's.

As an outside observer- not really.

No one didn't know that containing the QB, attacking the edges, and making him throw was the best plan for stopping Alabama.

The problem is that *maybe* 3 teams have personnel to even make that possible, in all of college football, on their best days.

Even if they did, you need the athletes to compete, I don't think anyone else comes close

From an L6U fans perspective...

Not really.

There are plenty of smart DCs out there in college football land. Aranda prolly being one of the best with maybe the best personnel outside of Bama. Bamas O just played Bamas D.

Most teams dont have the players to execute at the level LSU did last night on D. Thing is, it wont take that to beat Bama. If a team can execute at 75% the level of LSU D(which should be difficult) and execute 25% better than LSUs O(which shouldnt be hard considering LSUs O) then Bama can be beat. There are only a hand-full of teams in college football that meet those criteria and then you still only have one game to do it so the ball has to bounce right. This isnt baseball where you get 3 game series.

Maybe. Problem is nobody else in the country has that personnel.

Kiffin hates to run the ball, even when we're averaging 4.6 yds per carry like we did last night.

There are also other fairly easy routes he could have called instead of that crap behind the line and some of those low % ones 50 yds downfield.

He does this a lot. He's overrated.

They have a very good defense.

That combined with horrible field position and just horrible play calling made Alabama's offense struggle.

Clemson does. Plus they have the QB and WRs to give Bama problems. They're the only team I see standing in the way of Saban getting another one.

I'd like to think in retrospect that it was all part of Kiffin's master plan to use his horrible playcalling in this game as a decoy offensive scheme for other teams to try to use as a blueprint to "stop" Bama...

JK. He just was a horrible play caller for this game. BUT, I think that he and Saban will eliminate some of the crap that is obviously not working from the playbook, and try to stick with what Bama is good at from here on out, because last night was a wake up call. What was most frustrating last night was knowing that there were a lot of plays that COULD'VE worked and put points on the board not being put into action.

Kiffin has been at Alabama for 2 years now and has taken 2 career backup quarterbacks and won 2 SEC titles and a national title. I don't think that is over-rated.

There were a number of plays where, in other games, the play would have broken for a number of yards. LSU defense just has a lot of very quick, disciplined players that were able to tackle well. There were only just a few missed tackles all night.
Kiffin could have called the EXACT same plays against a weaker team and Bama would have rolled up at 30+ points.
