Did Kiffin Actually Force The Issue?

No, not with altruistic motives but Kiffin DID force the conferences to lay down the rules. So, in a sense, he helped college football by backing the universities into making a decision.

The question becomes, “Why didn’t the conferences/presidents/ADs do this sooner?” It’s not like they live in a vacuum. They knew the potential for NFL players to return to college sports was there.

According to houstonearler, they didn't change or do anything today. All of this was in place already and it was just a PR stunt.

I wouldn’t go that far (thanking him) but sooner or later, someone would have tried it. Unfortunately, Kiffin seems to be close by whenever there is a firestorm. Will his reputation for bending the rules follow him? Probably. But in this case, he possible did everyone a favor.

I don’t pretend to defend Kiffin. However, I’m also looking at the reality of college football as it stands and realizing the sooner these issues are met, the sooner we’ll get rules in place.

Kiffin, being true to his personality, simply backed the universities into making a decision they should have made long ago.

This x20.

He's self-serving. LSU hated him, now they love him but they will hate him again. Sorry, not sorry.

When you see a school playing an old arse 6th year senior and the sec doing nothing about it you might as well try. Worse case you’re right back worse you started.
