What’s the other metric?

Number of Pom poms?

Winning at home, every year, consistently is what makes great atmospheres.

Not having a great home record with one of the top teams in the country.

You guys sucked arse last year. What does that tell you?

So an arena's atmosphere can't be good unless the team is winning? It was noise a minute ago but now it's record based.

I’m not a Auburn fan but I do like Bruce Pearl’s swag. His personality is how you get your players to buy in. They will benefit from it as long as he is there. He’s a dang good coach.

Atmosphere means crowd intimidation. Loud doesn't mean intimidation.

What coach isnt going to say that genius? Especially when the home court advantage is pretty stout.

I mean it’s up there enough for him to say that and not sound crazy. Probably top 3 at least this year

It’s a combination obviously. But I’m talking homecourt advantage. Ours is historically good, regardless of coach or team.

We’re 12-8 all time against top 5 at Bud. That’s second only to UK in the same span.

What about y’all?

You’re sitting here asking for quantitative metrics from me while hanging your hat on your own coach saying you have the best home court advantage. Ok.

The atmosphere is capable of being the best in the country on any given day. I've been to Duke and Carolina when their places were packed and the atmosphere at Auburn is just as good or better. Arkansas was electric a few nights ago and they can also claim one of the best atmospheres in the country.

I can agree with this.

Kansas is wild too. As much as I hate saying it. They have a great tight setup but still 15k or so.

It was insanely loud for that Qualls dunk in 2014. Maybe the loudest I’ve heard an arena on TV outside of our trip to Texas Tech not too long ago when they were at their height under Beard.

Their star player just said BWA was the loudest place he’s ever played. I’m not advocating BWA as the best but there are plenty of places that are close or better.

Even if true and based on what Auburn Arena brings right now, are you expecting Bruce Pearl to say instead,

I wish we had the best Home Court in the country, but there are other places better?

Come on man

Exactly. I’m too lazy to look it up but I think something like margin of victory at home vs away in conference would be a good metric. BWA has got to be worth 10 points.

Hell some of those Anderson years we’d be damn near undefeated at home and lose almost every road game.

And that’s how it was designed. It was built to be a larger Barnhill Arena.

I have been to many stadiums for a game and never as wild as Cameron when Duke is playing. Their stadium only sits 9300 roughly but it is has to be one of the toughest places to play for an opposing team. The seat on right on top of the floor like a HS gym. The announcers are way up in the rafters. Their students wear stripes and when they start bouncing around it makes you dizzy trying to watch the game.

With how loud it gets in there and the fans right on top of the players it is pretty intimidating and hot as well. They only installed AC in the building 20 years ago. I remember going there before that a talk about hot in a small area.

Auburn has a very fine atmosphere for basketball. Arguably one of the best. The head coach had an opportunity to promote his program in front of a national audience. What would you expect him to say?
