Yeah, as soon as he's done with the playoffs and title game they'll work out the terms.

So Arky has their man, yet they are paying a search firm? This seems like a waste of money.

I am sure Arky will find a coach, but it seems like they don't have their man yet.

These openings usually average 3 weeks from fire to new hire announced, we are only a few days in.

Not a search firm exactly, a vetting firm.

If it's Gus, why would you need to vett him?

Preach Lane or Norvell for me and don’t make them feel like 2nd choices (they may not be just saying don’t hold out).

Gus just made comments today about how they had finally established some depth at AU. How the program was coming together and they have a great foundation moving forward.

Good question. I don't think it is Gus. If Auburn wins this weekend, no way Arkansas should wait around til after the playoffs to hire him. It's unlikely he would come after that anyway.

I live in the Little Rock area and the sports ralk show hosts and the callers are completely convinced that they are getting Gus, that they are pulling for him to win this weekend and then the national title.

I live in the Little Rock area and this is fiction. People who want Gus know he has to lose.

Gus just landed another big recruit yesterday. He is not going anywhere. That ship has sailed and he is All In.

The lack of discussion about arkie's open position speaks volumes to the perception of their value among the talking heads.

For some odd reason, I have a feeling Lane is going to move just up the road from where he's at to FSU once Jimbo jumps to TAMU. He always seem to fall into those high profile jobs. Seems like a perfect fit to me. Call me crazy!

This actually makes a lot of sense.

lmfao. no. The hogs are doing it right. They aren't being talked about alot because of Tennessee's debacle. Any of the 3 options that the Hogs are looking at will be great hires.

The only reason Gustav would be interested in the Arky job is if he wants to be closer to his family and his church in NWA.

We have a winner add in that Gus doesnt care for how and who run the athletic dept. And doesnt want to be their scape goat for the things he cant control

Honestly when looking at other schools Arkansas seems to be going about this the right way. I have no idea if Gus wants to leave but seems unless he loses on Saturday Arkansas will have to go another direction as they aren't going to wait until after the playoffs to hire a coach.

I'm not the biggest fan of Lane Kiffin, but at this point anything that isn't Bielema would be a breath of fresh air. Hell, I'd take Jeff Monken out of Army if only for the joy of listening to everyone complain about having to defend the triple option and watching them try to figure out that inverted wishbone Army runs out of the shotgun.

I lean towards Norvell personally, he runs a similar system to Gus, he isn't tied into the Springdale church, and hiring him wouldn't involve giving a large stack of money to a school we play every year.

As long as they are a good fit at Arkansas I will not be too picky. My only concern is the big money boosters going all in on Gus and stonewalling our AD from hiring someone that would do a good job here. Which could leave us in the position of being forced to go the route of hiring a Skip Holtz.

Though, if that happens, I suppose it would free up my Saturdays for a few years. I could get an awful lot of yard work done.

Holtz, Hatfield, and Petrino weren't eaten alive. They had us competing at a high level. We've hired some duds, too, but only Ford and Bielema have been the head scratchers. Those two hires actually parallel quite a bit.
