We're just enjoying the fire scenery a state to our east at the moment.

He'd have to be insane to do it, honestly.

Yeah, as soon as he's done with the playoffs and title game they'll work out the terms.

Vetting candidates, conducting interviews, narrowing the list from interest shown.

These openings usually average 3 weeks from fire to new hire announced, we are only a few days in.

Their guy is coaching this weekend. There are a lot of coaches working this weekend other than Gus. I do think they have a deal in place with somebody. It's too quiet and calm in Fayetteville.

Lose Saturday and Gus might well bolt. Next year's schedule is not favorable at the end like this one was, and Aubies are very fickle.

I'm betting we hire Norvell. He's been in the top 2 since we started discussing the next hire back in September. Norvell has a championship game to coach Saturday.

Gus just made comments today about how they had finally established some depth at AU. How the program was coming together and they have a great foundation moving forward. He could contend for the title next year as well. Would be crazy to go from the Penthouse to the Outhouse at Arky.

In a way yes. Malzahn leaving is really not that big a deal to me, but the circumstances that would bring it about are.

One of these contacted Arkansas about the job.

The other lives in Stillwater.

The only reason Gustav would be interested in the Arky job is if he wants to be closer to his family and his church in NWA.

If that's what he wants, I don't begrudge him a bit. We'll just hire another HC who'll get us back to the top of the rankings, just like Malzahn and the four HCs who preceded him.

We're "fickle" for the same reasons Bama fans are fickle. We don't tolerate mediocrity for very long.

We tend to make hires quietly and under the radar. It was that way with Petrino. Nobody knew shite until it was inked. He was barely mentioned before we signed him.

Same with Fatfrick.
