I don't think Mizzou came in "cocky" aside from the obvious few, but prolific posters on SECRant. And they were blowing arse for the fun of being d bags. I heard that Pinkel's best expection was only winning 6 total games. We certainly heard often enough from media and former rivals that we would not fair well in SEC. So, guess we met expectations.
aTm was expected to fare better than Mizzou, but I think most everyone was surprised at how well their season concluded. I think JFF gets a lot of credit in that department!
Interesting that only one sport season has concluded, and this question is being asked.
Perpetuates the idea that SEC fans only care about football.

The answer to the OP is pretty obvious, Mizzou was disappointing though not an abject failure. They will be fine long term but they have to get much more serious about investing in the program if they want to ever sniff an SEC Title. Not just upgrades but big time building to make things at a Bama/LSU level. They handled SEC Media Days poorly with some foolish player comments and Pinkel acting as though he expected nothing different than the Big 12. Once things started to go bad it steamrolled a bit. I expect more of a USC/Arky type story for Mizzou long term. Struggling at first but eventually becoming a solid contributor with a few sports that they stand out in.
A&M did better than even Aggies expected. It was a perfect storm of sorts. It's amazing just how close A&M came to playing for the SEC Title in the end and had they held on to leads against UF or LSU there just may have been a crystal football in CS and not Tuscaloosa. Have to win though and several other SEC teams can play the "what if" game as well. The key for A&M though is we showed we can compete and we are ready now, not in 3 or 4 years as most expected. A&M actually did all we could to lower expectations coming in and that has resulted in the storyline actually being bigger.
There is a real monster growing in CS and all the new facilities and stadium being built are with the intention of not being really good but to actually force everyone else to keep up (which they will of course). The big key is the massive alumni base of A&M has been awoken and this program a lot of people had just forgotten about after a decade of the abyss has come in and taken control of Texas. That doesn't assure NC's but it does assure that A&M is set to compete for the long term and at least has the potential to have more resources than anyone in the SEC. The key is living up to that potential. This year was a good start but it's only the first step.

Mizzou's ridiculous schedule didn't help anything after all the injuries. We should find out more about Mizzou after this next year. We should be nowhere near the #1 SoS this coming season.

But you still lost to us in your stadium. But you still had a good season. Mizzou should have done better.

Yes, that was a major, inexcusable shortcoming in our season, letting an inferior team win like that on our field. An egregious error.
Order will be restored next season

Actually we expected more from the SEC.

I think Mizzou had some coaching issues, and still do. So I definitely can't disagree with your view of next year.

A&M exceeded expecations in football, but then again no one saw Manziel coming. I expected their basketball to be much more competitive.
Mizzou underachieved in football but injuries played a significant role. USCe, UF and UGA also proved the SEC east is not down anymore. They REALLY underachieved in basketball.
Baseball season still neeeds to run it's course...

Mizzou has flat out stunk it up in basketball so far. Hopefully this 7 man rotation and everyone being healthy will help the Tigers get some success on the road.

I'd say yes. I always said that I believed Mizzou would be like KY, minus the basketball success.

I think we did worse than most expected.
I said Mizzourah would finish with 0 - 3 conference wins so they performed about as I expected. I put TAMU with 4 conference losses to Alabama, Auburn, LSU, and Florida. While I did not predict the Bama loss I really thought Auburn would not be near as bad as they were this season so I really only missed the Alabama game.
I also thought Mizzou would not do as well in basketball in the SEC as they might have done in the B12 and that seems to be the case at this point. If the Tigers wind up a playa in the SEC it will not begin to happen till at least 5 years into their membership and they have had time to adjust to the power and speed of the conference as a whole.
