Both were very good and two of my favorites growing up but I would take McAllister by a hair. He was the prototypical big back that would run you over and then outrun the next guy. Alexander was more vision and less brute athleticism. The difference is marginal and they are two of the best SEC running backs all time.

Between the 2 players posted, I gotta go with Deuce. If they swapped teams, it would be unanimous. Also Deuce was more versatile because he lined up at wr and was one of the best returners in college football at the time.

J. J. Johnson is a better running back in college than Kevin Faulk. Distant fourth at best.

Why do you have to add Kevin Faulk when comparing two other players. If that is the case, I will throw my vote in for Bo Jackson. See how easy this is.

Kevin Faulk wasn't mentioned until some butthurt Tiger had to toss his name in the ring.
well when someone claims Deuce was the best running back of the late 90's, then yeah Faulk's name will come up because he was better

Alexander scared the crap out of me. He had a great stiff arm with those gorilla arms of his. I was glad to see him go.
Deuce, not so much.
Deuce, not so much.

To have the all purpose yards he had, Faulk is forgotten outside Louisiana. Who cares?
When you hear the last name Faulk mentioned in regards to football, everyone thinks Marshal.

You must not remember that Auburn Ole Miss game in 2000. Deuce almost singlehandedly beat Auburn. Unfortunately Rudy Johnson singlehandedly beat us haha.

You have to include Kevin Faulk in the conversation.

Evidenced by the fact Alexander was always voted among the most overrated players. Even by peers. Deuce was widely respected.
His NFL MVP award disagrees with you.
And what's up with people throwing in other backs? It was comparing two. Dense folks 'round here.

Best RB ever at Bama.
Eh. I'd say the Heisman winner was.
And Alexander was better than Deuce but it's close. I think it was 2000 or 2001 we had a winning record and Bama had their worst team in decades. And they still beat the hell out of us and Shaun Alexander ran for 953 yards and 36 touchdowns in that game.

And when you think of the name Alexander in regards to football, no one thinks of Shaun. What's your point? Faulk was the second al-time leading rusher in SEC history when he was done. He was a two time all-american and 4 time all-sec player. He then went on to winning 3 super bowls in a 13 year NFL career. No one has forgotten about Kevin Faulk anywhere.

do the ole miss fans even realize Deuce only had one 1k yard season in college, 1082 yards his sophomore year? Faulk had three seasons better than Deuce's best. Let that sink in for a minute

Alexander would likely have won the Heisman if he hadn't been up against a career award winner that year.
