What you say is true on missing on players. But they will always sign 25 good to great players.
He had a player committed and then on signing day he went to one of the Mississippi schools. Those are the ones that piss him off I think.

Sounds real fishy. Saban knows where his coaches are at all times during the dead period. My guess there were many staff meetings going on during that period, now all of a sudden he is a macro-manager.

U do realize that coaches are on the road doing their thing by visiting schools and coaches etc. So my guess the contact happened here and not a conspiracy that you refer too.

Sure. I bet the conversation with Saban went like this "Coach, I'm going to check out the grades on Player X , then going to see his grandmother, I am then going to Mass followed by a stop at Children's Hospital ."

There's no approval. He probably used a university P card and accounting caught it, reported it, and it's taken this long to go through the channels.

UA stopped doing reimbursement stuff like that years ago.

Yeah, Saban makes 'em all wear ankle monitors.

Jeez.

And USC was supposed to know what Reggie Bush and his family were doing with someone who wasn't affiliated with USC whatsoever down in San Diego? USC got hit because they "knew or should have known" (Paul Dee/NCAA) what was going on. And the Bama situation directly involved a coach. So Bama will get punished too, right? Right? I'm not holding my breath.

And for the record, I don't wish what happened to us to happened to any other program - it friggin sucks.

The difference being these recruits never signed with Alabama, much less played a down for Alabama. And don't start on unfair NCAA penalties. Alabama has had their unfair share in the past.

NCAA doesn't give a shite where they signed. They would go after the player also if they signed with the school.

Had forgotten about that, and also did not realize there were wins that had to be vacated. Guess I know the answer, but did you guys have to vacate the Jan 9th game against LSU? Hey, can always wish, correct?

One was extra benefits (ie a house)
The other was a coach talking to a player when he wasn't supposed to.

Huge HUGE difference.

Anyway, much like the Supreme Court, NCAA is big on precedence.
And precedence has been set ie Joker Phillips getting fired and no penalties for the school.

I feel bad for everyone in this thread, because literally nothing else is going to happen to bama over this, and we have already lined up a top notch replacement

The USC/Bush situation had nothing to do with recruiting. It wasn't even alleged to have to anything to do with recruiting. I totally agree that the textbook thing was bullshite, and I specifically said I don't want other programs punished - but SC was punished because SC "should have known" about something between Bush and someone who wasn't a SC coach/booster/administrator, etc. Sure Bama "should have known" what one of their coaches/recruiters was doing, right?

I don't want Bama punished. I just want people to see the bullshite discrepancies in how the NCAA handles shite.

I think what a lot of people are forgetting is that Saban has missed out on a lot of top players. Clowney, Nkemdiche just to name a couple.

Just something to think about.
