1. Everett didn't launch. His foot was on the ground during initial contact, and remained on the ground.
2. He didn't lead with his helmet. In fact, Everett's helmet never made contact with the WR. He hit him with his shoulder.
3. Everett didn't hit the WR in the head. Everett's shoulder made contact squarely with the WR's chest/shoulder area.
Everything they tell you to do in the modern safety era of football.
I can understand a penalty, but an ejection is an absolutely a ridiculous call.

Looks like a clean hit to me, I was shocked he was suspended for that when it happened on Saturday.

In the chest, not sure why he was suspended.

after reading the rule and watching the replay multiple times I don't think this was "targeting". You might go with a late hit, but that's about it.

It wasn't a headshot.
He didnt lead with his head.
He didn't launch himself.
By rule, the player he hit wasn't defenseless.
The ball was still in play and thus it was not a late hit.
He didn't taunt him afterwards.
Please, enlighten me oh guru of the gridiron.

Penalty, sure. An ejection is pretty ridiculous.

A late hit requires that either the ball no longer be in play or the defender has a reasonable belief that the player he is hitting is no longer involved in the play. Neither of those apply here.

Why is that a penalty? It meets none of the criteria for a targeting foul, it wasn't late and no helmets were involved.

Targeting a defenseless receiver. Not saying it should've been called, but you can at least make the argument. An ejection for that is just absurd.

Obviously you've never read the rule

Side note: Klein Kubiak is the son of Texans head coach Gary Kubiak (who played QB for A&M).

You're just not giving yourself a chance to be taken seriously.
Everett knew without a shadow of a doubt that Klein didn't have the ball, and Klein made no attempt to prepare for contact.
In no way, shape, or form should Everett have been ejected, but it is more evident that a late hit was made, than a no call.

LOL that dude could see that ball was past him for 2 seconds before he lowered the boom on that receiver. He should be suspended for 3 games
in other words TPOS

eh, I disagree with him but sort of see his point. If you don't know where the ball is, your job is to light up the wr. Earlier in the game there was a tip that went straight up and the A&M defenders didn't do anything but try to find the ball. The receiver caught it and scored a touchdown.
It's always been the rule that when a ball is tipped, WRs are free game but the big question is whether Everett knew that receiver was out of the play (and I think he did and could have laid off). To me that's a 15-yarder. But it's honestly a close call. If that's how they are calling targeting though, football ain't going to last much longer.

I agree. I think it leaves a little too much judgment to the ref. I think all hits like that on WR are going to be called.

Should be ejected. No reason to even hit that player. Play was over and thug went for the hit.

was a late hit, but not targeting. should not be suspended
