Mason is a class act. Nothing but respect.

Since Derek Mason has been the coach at Vanderbilt in the last six years, the Commodores have faced some NFL talent at quarterback. That group includes Alabama’s Tua Tagovailoa, Mississippi State’s Dak Prescott, Oklahoma's Jalen Hurts, Ole Miss’ Chad Kelly, Georgia’s Jake Fromm, Notre Dame’s Ian Book, and Missouri’s Drew Lock.

But Mason, in an interview on the “Wake Up Zone” on 104.5 in Nashville, put LSU’s Joe Burrow in a class by himself.

The best one I’ve seen since I’ve been in the SEC,” Mason said. “I know people talk about some of the Alabama teams. I think Alabama a couple years ago was pretty dynamic. You watch this LSU team and just based on what they can do, they can run the ball good enough. It’s not the typical LSU run game, but it doesn’t matter. Because of what’s happening with Joey Burrow and what he does with the football, and the matchups that they create, the stress that they put on you, and really his ability to be accurate with the football.

That’s one thing that really set Drew Brees apart is his accuracy and his ability to find tight windows and get the ball to his guys. I think Joe Burrow may be the best quarterback I’ve seen since I’ve been here."

Mason then understood the high praise and magnitude that the comment held.

That’s saying a lot, but I think Joey Burrow is definitely the best quarterback that we’ve played against,” he continued.

(Love that pic!)

Vandy fans, I hope Mason stays in the SEC.

Seems like a great man.

That pic is sweet. Even the security dude is smiling in his own way.

Is that why he was having his guys try and injure your players?

Derek must have forgotten he faced Dak "The Face of the NFL" Prescott in 2014. I guess he will probably send in a correction soon.

For Pete’s sake! Let this bullshite go!
1. 7 points came from HB fumbling in the endzone
2. 7 points came from pick 6 against the backup QB
3. 14 points came in garbage time against third string defense

Vandy’s offense only scored 10 on the starting defense.

Nice pic. Mason loves him some Burrow. I don't blame him.

You're fighting a hopeless battle. This board doesn't care about the actual game.

I thought points scored by defense or special teams didn’t count?

That's pretty good.

Vandy has scored 10 total points against Bama over the past dozen years.

But still, that's pretty good.

Bama’s? You go look (hint: it’s a lot less than 66)

Tua doesn't really count. Mason only faced Tua as a true freshman who played late in the game in a massive blowout. And Burrow's probably better than the rest of the QBs on that list except for Prescott. Mason's statement isn't really too outlandish or hyperbolic.
